I thought long and hard as to what Speilberg will come up with with regards to the fighting machines in the film. if i were SS id go fror a design that still had all the elements from the book but with a totally different twist. This is what i came up with. I must stress this design is my own based on how i feel the Spielberg design will work out.

nice technical drawing, but definitely NOT what i want to see the tripods look like. that looks like a one legged mechanical parcat with gorilla arms.
again... nice drawing, but WAY too much of a departure for my tastes. if spielberg tries anything like that i'll kick his arse! ;D

This thread isn't getting the attention it deserves. This is a well rendered piece, but it looks funky because it seems like you tried to fit the machine within the boundaries of the page (and I know how fighting machines can get pretty tall and hence get smaller in drawings)-- Not sure if that's what the machines will look like, but based on what we knew, it's a good interpretation. Maybe you should do a new drawing now that we know simple facts like the martian "basket" and the foot imprints. Still, those are questionable too...

my main gripe with that drawing is that its NOT a tripod. its got 3 appendages, but 3 appendages does not make a tripod. i'd like to see some more drawings at that level of creativity but somewhat closer to what was described, as that bears no resemblance to WOTW whatsoever

Well I think it's pretty good. It has a raw mechanical, yet predatory look about it. I reckon I'd be preeetty scared If I saw *that* advancing on me. Who cares ifs NOTHING like anything we would see in WOTW. This is the fan creations section, and all creations are inspired by WOTW. Personally, I can see that fitting in quite well to the story. Sure, it lacks the charm of the original tripod feel, but its still menacing. Keep up the good work.

i didn't say it wasn't good, quite the contrary. just... too much of a departure for me. and seeing that some skill was put into that rendering, i'd like to see a more accurate one
