By the looks of the Tour dvd specs, it doesn't look like they'll be doing what I was hoping- to have an alternate angle with just the CG footage with the music soundtrack. Now that would have been great. I suppose what we will get is a view as though we are sitting in the audience, but I would have loved to have seen that CG full screen on my plasma!

I did mention this as a possible option to JWM when the DVD was announced but was told it was unlikely partly because would push the price of the DVD up too much.
There were 19 cameras there so we will have a mix of views.

They could release the tour cgi as a seperate dvd all together. The way you can get dvd's of all the video's to the tracks of abba gold etc.

Why not two versions of the dvd? A one disc version with the tour... no special features and a three disc version with the tour, special features and CGI.
Francly I think Jeff Wayne has, with the best intentions, misjudged what the fans want here.

Jeff knows very well what the fans want, so I don't think his judgement is really in question here. There are issues, I was told, that would push the price of the DVD set up too much should they try to include a CGI only option, as I said before. I see no reason to believe that they are holding back for any reason apart from practical ones. It's a similar thing as when they tried to include the original video promos in the 'Collector's Edition' last year. They knew the fans wanted them but they had to make a trade off. This new DVD is going to be a two discer as it is.
I'd like to see this option as well, but don't be mistaken into thinking Jeff is out of touch just because he's not able to provide everything people want.

If it could be released, it would be better to release it with the Tour DVD I would have thought?
I know people want to see this and so do JWM. I asked them about it, they said it was 'unlikely' and for the reasons I explained. I don't know anything more than that. I get to hear about some of the plans they have in advance because I work on Jeff's site and I'm usually the one who ends up disseminating the news but they don't always tell me everything.
Because I am getting so many queries about this of late, though, I have asked JWM again exactly why it won't be happening.. then, when I get a reply, I shall I can give the definitive (and hopefully final) answer.
