Over on Jeff Wayne's Official site, we have recently had some questions regarding the spectacular CGI that was used for the live Tour of Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of The Worlds.
Doug Fiddler of Mediastation, director of the CGI footage that was played at the Tour, has kindly agreed to try to answer any questions you may have.
If you have any questions about the CGI for Doug and his team, please post them in this thread. I will collect them all in a week or two and submit them for answering.
Whilst we cannot guarantee that every question will get answered, this is a great opportunity to find out more about how footage such as this is produced. We will look forward to seeing your questions!

1) How long did it take for all the footage to be created?
2) What was the basic process for creating the footage?
3) Did you have any limitations in regards of what you actually achieved, and what you aimed for?
4) What are you most proud of, from the footage you created (i.e what's ur favourite bit)?

Could you please ask them.. 1, What rendering software did they use? 2, What made them decide to get involved in a WotW project? Thanks

[glow=purple,2,300]Will the entire Tour CGI footage be released?
Is the Tour CGI exclusive to the tour, or will it become part of the 2007/8 movie?
Are there any plans to expand the Tour CGI to cover the whole album? IE could we anticipate a full CGI version purely of the album, in addition to the 2007/8 Book/Album combo Jeff is working on?
The martians are a fabulous new design to that previously seen - what is the influence of this, as they look a bit Lovecraftian.[/glow]

Ws the shot of the narrator and Oglivy in the Observatory a nod to Pendragon?!

Were the countryside backgrounds entirely computer generated or were real backgrounds used then digitally altered.

What does it take to be able to create animations and CGI at that level?

The 12 weeks you had to do the CGI footage in, was this enough or could you have done with more time.

How much freedom were you given to deviate from the images created in the paintings for the original album ?

How many of your team does it take to change a lightbulb? Ok... seriously, though: Was there any footage that you created in a final, finished form that had to be cut due to running time limitations? And if so, will these 'deleted scenes' ever be shown to the public 9i.e. as a special feature on the DVD)?

[glow=purple,2,300]Did we ever get any answers to these questions?[/glow] I completely forgot about this. No answers yet by the looks of things. Same thing happened with another Q & A I think.

No, I haven't submitted it yet. I was going to the other week as well as write a review of the DVD (I got a screener copy before the release) and loads of other JW related stuff I had planned but recent events in my life meant me scrapping all that for a while. I will look at it over the next few days and see if I have enough q's to submit. Leave it with me.
