There's an interesting article on www.thisislondon.co.uk which talks about the return of Richard Burton to the stage in Jeff Wayne's Musical Tour of The War of The Worlds. This picture accompanies the article and will give you a rough idea of what a part of the stage set up will look like... Note the 'floating' Burton head and the massive screen behind with some of the CGI on it. You can find the article here... www.thisislondon.co.uk/theatre/articles/22275264?source=Evening%20Standard&ct=5The head, I'm told, looks amazing when animated and I know the CGI is fantastic. Cheers to Anthony for the ' heads up'. Literally. ;D

I heard they're having actual models of the fighting machines walking around... with real heat rays being fired, well not killer rays you understand lol

There will be a fighting machine on stage, yes. And that pic was taken during testing. So it will be something like that.

How on earth do holograms work? I mean how do they suspend a 3d image in air like that?

Bizarre ey! It must be strange for his relatives and people he knew closely to see that.

Nice to see they have finally took notice of what we have said and altered the FMs eyes, putting them back to how they should look . . . . Is it me, or is that NOT Richard Burton's face.

I was just thinking the same thing. It doesn't look like Burton to me either. It's most probably a stand in until Burtons face is finished. I've had a close look at the fighting machines eyes by enlarging them in my pics and to be honest I can't really see if they've been altered or not. The fighting machine on the left looks as if the eyes are more like the albums and the one on the right still appears to look like the redesign by E.Eyes [ The Hulks backside ].

Interesting to see how they are planning to do RB's face - however, if you stare at that picture for a while, though it gets kind of creepy... I think it has something to do with the lack of ears and the expression. lol ;D The FM's are looking cool, too.

Well it's a bit late to change the 'fithgint' machines now, Krys, even if they wanted to. The FM's are the originals... they just have a few extra touches like the 'claw' feet. They look great in motion. As for Dickie, I think that is him. As I said, it looks a little weird static like that but I'm assured it looks fantastic moving.

The face is really nothing new in the terms of FX, it has been done before. But it would appear to be 'back' projected as you can clearly see the lead trailing from the rear of the projection screen.
I would hazard a guess and say it moves from left to right on the stage, moving along on a track, possibly behind the Fighting Machine which will dominate the stage.
Heehee, Jeff's turning into Jean Michel Jarre ;D

Looks fantastic. If you read the article it says that they`ve got a stand in to "mouth" Burton`s role and superimposed it onto his face. That`s his face from when he was a lot younger. Lol! Don`t you guys ever watch movies?? I`m just wondering where the band go!

What I ment was I liked the bulging out eyes on the Fighting Machine better than the set back ones.

What I ment was I liked the bulging out eyes on the Fighting Machine better than the set back ones. You must be one of the few people who does Krys. When Envious Eyes released their re-design recently - that had bulging out eyes [ and looked suspiciously like the Hulks posterior ], most of us didn't like it. If the eyes have been set back more then I think that will look more menacing - and more true to the album so I can't see how you can say that they don't look like the ones on the album sleeve.
