Here are some 'fresh' details of the contents of the forth coming June 13th re-launch of Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds

When Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War Of The Worlds emerged in June 1978, few men would have believed, not least H.G. Wells, the creator of the novel from which it is adapted, that it would gain major critical acclaim, go on to sell over 12.5 million records across the world and become a cult classic among both popular music and science fiction fans. The album also spawned two international hit singles-"The Eve of The War" and "Forever Autumn."
With its chilling artwork and story-line, a gripping musical score fusing progressive rock, hard rock, classical and literary influences coupled with spellbinding performances from Richard Burton (Narrator), Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy), David Essex, Julie Covington, Chris Thompson and Justin Hayward (The Moody Blues), Jeff Wayne's musical version has become synonymous with Wells's visionary work.
2005 will once again see War Of The Worlds fever hit a peak with the release of two new, updated products from Sony BMG. The first, a 7-disc deluxe Collector's Edition package, will be the definitive version of War Of The Worlds with 4 CDs of remixes, outtakes and studio rarities, a comprehensive 65-minute "Making Of" DVD documentary (N.B - this is now 92 minutes - H_C)and a brand new multi-channel surround sound audio mix of the legendary double album.
The 5.1 surround sound remastered mix will be presented with a new stereo mix on two Hybrid Super Audio CDs for superior audio reproduction. The original double album will be re-issued as a 2-disc hybrid SACD with the new stereo and 5.1 surround sound remastered audio from the Collector's Edition and expanded album artwork.
In addition, June 29th will see the release of the new $200 million film of The War Of The Worlds directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise. As expected, there is already significant public interest in this film, which is set to be one of this summer's major blockbusters.
