It might be the version performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Jeff Wayne. It's a little 'softer' than the original, but sounds pretty good all the same. I have it on an 80s album called 'Visions', which is a collection of easy listening pieces, but I think it also turned up on a few 'Classic Rock' albums. I'd love to hear a full orchestra tackle the entire album.

[glow=purple,2,300]Eve of the war? Relaxing? The burst of the first three chords is enough of a shock to the system. After the opening speech, I ALWAYS forget that it's much louder, and it always makes me jump out me skin!
I suppose they could have recorded a special Pan Pipes Moods version of WOTW.... I head a panpipe version of Forever Autumn once, but that's a nice & relaxing song anyway.
Another one for Jeff: A pan pipe version of the whole album!! Red Weed would be good... ;D [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Other tracks on the CD include orchestral versions of Bowies Life on Mars and Space Oddity! Both sounding far more cheery than they have any right to be [/glow]

I dont think Eve of the War is relaxing really, I mean, the title is kinda eerie, and knowing what comes next is weird. When i first heard it in a Sci-Fi compilation disc, i asked my dad, "What is the song about?" he told me "Well, some martians come to earth and fry people with their heat-rays." I was in like, grade 3 at the time and i was freaked out. Not very relaxing.
