Does anybody remember or know anything about a proposed theme park in the early eighties called "wonder World". The park was to feature an area based around the War of the Worlds and as far as I know nothing ever came of it.
The article I saw was featured in an issue of the relaunched Eagle comic in 82/83? and had a photo of a presentation model of a concert hall in the shape of a Jeff Wayne fighting machine emerging from a cylinder.
It would be interesting to know what came of it.

I too recall this from the early 80s though I can't say for sure if I read it in one of the Eagle Comics, but I do remember the rumour that followed. Shame that nothing ever came of it back then, but something similar is happening in the near future.

Probably ended up being Noel Edmond's 'Crinkly Bottom'. What a great idea that was.

I had heard, UNCONFIRMED, that as part of the Wayne re-release there would be some sort of theme park ride somewhere, vague enough for you?

There has been talks, but nothing has been set in stone, and it could also lead to it being set up (if it goes ahead) somewhere in the U.S, but its early days yet.

Why the U.S. the damn thing is set here in the UK? I know they have mor emoney and things but still. Maybe lego land windsor could put on a show, they already have a lego model of London, just bung in some tripods and set fire to stuff.

I remember seeing the concept art in a magazine, and thought it looked well cool - I remember 2 machines (deffo 1 FM but plus another, or a HM?). SOMEONE must have a copy somewhere to scan on - I'll trawl some car boots for old eagle comics soon...)
But what would a WOTW theme park have? The Cylinder ride - a roller coaster through space, lading in a sand pit. Ride the Ray (water park) - Climb the FM and slide down the heat ray into a pool at the base of the sinking Thunderchild.
Any other ideas?

Theme park could be a set up. But it definetly has been discussed by Jeff Wayne and his people.
