All this renewed WOTW interest, started me to play the WOTW album again (and buying the Alladubulla remix and the Highlights). Well, after a couple of days playing those, I thought of taking a break from Jeff Wayne and am at the moment listening to Spartacus... by Jeff Wayen :-)
Great album as well! But did Jeff Wayne make any others? (I'm not talking about songs for commercials and what not) but big albums. Spartacus doesn't even appear on Amazon (???) so searching on there doesn't do any good.

Gnorn, sadly this album was deleted years ago and is now quite collectable. Not surprising really, seeing as (according to my Guinness Book of Hit Albums ) it only got to 36 in the chart In contrast, WOTW got to No.1 and was on chart for 235 weeks (or "Rare and difficult to find" as some sellers say on eBay ;D) )

lol, as rare as the other 1000 hits you get on Ebay? :-)
Well, I might concider myself lucky to have bought the Spartacus album when I did? I must admit, it hasn't the same 'catchyness' as WOTW, which songs keep popping up in my head. Anywho, I bought Spartacus as soon as it got out, without even listening to it first.
Does your book also have something of an all-time album chart? If so, where does WOTW stand?

I found a used copy of Spartacus 5 or 6 years ago..the previous poster is right..there's not many tracks that stick in the mind, Maybe "I'm Going home" but not much else. The cast and story are there but something just seems a bit 'off' compared to WOTW. The massive use of sythesizers and suchlike make it sound bland and medicore to my ears..it fades in to the background rather than keeping your attention. But thats just my opinion...

... which I share.
Spartacus is a great album anywho, but indeed doesn't catch you as much as WOTW. Allthough there are some classic parts on it. Some narrations, songs... "to suffer myself..." Or what about the first time Hopkins says "the beasts roared and the crowd roared"
But yeah, as I was playing it this afternoon, it didn't really grab my attention. You have to sit and listen to it to enjoy it, whilst WOTW gets you jumping up and down even when it's in the background.
The only thing WOTW didn't have, and Spartacus did, is Catherine Zeta Jones. SWING! :-)

Ebay has many popping up at silly prices. I did score the CD off Ebay last year for £5. Sometimes you will be expected to pay more. Its just a case of looking for it. I too love the captions that sellers on Ebay use for TWOTW album "this rare album" - yeap, rare, so rare Jeff sold 12 million copies of it. . . What a bunch of donkeys. H_C

Jeff's album The War Of The Worlds stopped in the Top 100 Album Charts for a maximum of 5 years - now that's what I call bloody good going.

Never heard of him, is he some sort of tribute to Jeff Wayne ;D Jeff Wayen is very big here in the local square-dance scene. Appearantly he was heavily influenced by the '53 WOTW movie. :-) -Gnorn

Unlike Jeff Wayne who does not like the 53 version.

Anywho, no other albums besides Spartacus then? And since The War of the Worlds is Jeff's prodigy, and with all the upcoming merchandise and the movie, it will occupy him for the next couple of years.
H_C, do you know what Jeff did between Spartacus and the resently announced reproductions and incarnations of WOTW? Beside Ulladubulla that is.

Jeff has been doing music since the late 60's. His musical of The War Of The Worlds is the record that many recognise him by, but Jeff has clocked up a huge amount of music and various productions for TV, commercials and film, their are just too many to list.
