It's my first post and I haven't had time to scour the forum yet...is everyone aware of the WOW quicktime video clip? I found it quite by accident a while back on bluemonkeystudios.com.You can find it under 'viewing platform' I think. It seems to be some kind of mock up CGI commissioned for the musical CDs but it features footage I haven't seen before including a sailor on the Thunderchild as a Martian attacks..a Handling Machine bursting out of a building and some kind of Martian craft rising from the ocean..It only lasts 78 seconds but it gave me goosebumps (fanboy that I am)...and isn't the end bit poignant? Anyone know what this clip was made for? On another tack I have both PS and PC versions of the game plus the original vinyl LP,the reissue CD with the 4 remixes on and'ulladubulla' also. Also does everyone know there is an official musical website in the works? Go to Thewaroftheworlds.com for a short preview...anyone know when this site will be up and running? Lastly...a couple of rumours I heard...the next 'League of extraordinary gentlemen' movie may be based on the graphic novel which features the League versus the Martians..Also I heard that Jeff Wayne was in talks with the people behind both in-development movies with a view to getting on the soundtrack...how true that is I don't know..

Ermm..it was a while back...I would've right clicked the mouse to 'save as' rather than just clicking to d/l.either that or i wouldve just 'cut' it out of my 'temp internet files' in Windows. Can't remember which. One of those worked though cos it downloaded fine.

Hi, I'm new to the boards, and I do have a small favour to ask. Due to the hype of the two upcoming remakes, I remembered the afformentioned quicktime clip, and I believe I found the link through here. Unfortunately, the website that hosted the clip is no longer available. I scoured the net for ages looking for it, and could not find it! Then I trawled through the site (which by the way, is fab!) and found this thread! So, if anyone actually has the clip on their hard drive, would they be so kind as to forward it to me Via email. Hotmail accepts larger attachments now, so I'm sure it wont cause a problem (as long as you dont Zip it or something, my account doesnt like that!) furryhammster48@hotmail.comP.S Keep up the fantastic work on the site. I've added it to my favourite and shall be returning as often as I can.

It sounds to me like "promotional" material from either the time of the Playstation game or PC versions. If it is not official material then Jeff could have found it and pulled the plug, hench it not being around anymore. . . There's a lot of it about.

Well, Horsell, it looks too well done to be unofficial.. Jeff Wayne Music is also one of the contact addresses given on a credits screen near the end of it. It's also too recent to be anything to do with the games. It looks to me like a tester that might be done to show how a full length film might look. Perhaps Jeff was scouting for a software house to do his movie and this was a presentation piece? It's not just this that isn't available for download anyway.. the whole site has been 'under construction' for several months now. Red Weed, I'll see what I can do, but I'm on dialup and dowloading attachments like this takes ages...

7 months is a long time.
As I have not seen the clip you mention, I can't really comment any further, what I said was based around your description. Certainly has left be baffled to what it could be.

I do appreciate that Nerf. I spent all last night hunting for it. I did find the website, and was rather dismayed at the "Under Construction" sign, but I figured I must have had the wrong place, til I found the forum. It was a fantastic clip anyway, and has really stuck in my mind, as it captured the essence of the soundtrack and the story so well.

I have a copy but I'm dubious about uploading it for people to view because of the copywrite issues, if it's something Ollie don't want spreading around then I don't wanna annoy them, and put War of the Worlds online into a legal problem. Any news on the legality of it Horsell?

I'll try and send it to Horsell in the next couple of days, Rob, as he hasn't seen it and maybe he'll be able to give us an idea. I can't see why there would be a problem, it was on the site for ages and the JWM name appears on the credits screen, but who knows?

To be honest chaps I really can't say as I have not seen the footage.
Something does keep coming to mind though. When the PC version was made a few years back, there was a press pack made that contained a CD rom of footage (and a load of other goodies not availible for public use). I was once told that the footage contained "some" of what is seen at the start of both CD rom disc's for the game (including Playstation version), with some "extra" footage.
I ask, is what you see the same "style" as what is seen at the start of both PC & PS games?.

Yes, I suppose it is Horsell, although nothing in it is within the game. That plus it's a damn sight better made (no pixelation, etc.. although that may be the 'Binks' technology causing the visual problems). Bear with me an I'll see if I can get it to you. I think it would be an absolute CRIME if JWWotW fans weren't able to see it. That's why I sent it to Rob in the first place. We'll see.

Afraid not, can't email it to Horsell as the file is too big. We'll get it to him somehow and take it from there.
