Hello all...... I am rather new to this site, and I have finally registered at last. I am huge fan of War of the Worlds and HG Wells. I am glad that I am not the only fan out there. I have a rather bizarre hobby in regards to War of the Worlds. I am currently plotting all things that occur in the book onto a modern ordance survey map, and I am overlaying it onto a map from 1896. Its been a while since I have been to the Horsell Common, Maybury Hill and Pyreford to map and plot the first parts of the book. I believe that locals think that I am bonkers...... Its good fun. I am slowly working my way towards London. My next Visits will be in the early new year. Maybe Late this Autumn. My overall aim is to create a War Of the Worlds Walk. I have quite a few crazy ideas about it as well. So maybe I am a little Bonkers. Anyone as mad or as bonkers as me wants to give a little input? Please do.... Carl

It's something that I've always thought would be a great idea. So I don't think you're bonkers. There are some members who live in the Woking area who I am sure may be able to help with questions you may have. I'm moving this to general discussion.

I've toyed with the idea of doing it myself, but I'm too bleedin' idle to have got further than pondering it... I dunno, anyone in or around London, fancy doing a group walk some time? Not now, the weather's bobbins...

This is great news that I am not the only one who is bonkers. I will be confirming a date shortley when I will be next down that way. It will be a good round of walking shoes, a packed lunch, maps, compasses and pencils and notebook. My email is mr_c_hiroigrant@yahoo.com Email if you want to know more. Me.... My name is Carl, I am 31 almost 32. Love HG Wells, hiking, picnics, mapping and especially when it comes to WOTW's. I am easy going, patience and a little old fashioned about doing things. I am not trying to sell myself here, just letting you know a bit about me as I have nothing to hide or expect. If you want to get involved just email, the company would be great along with the input. It took me a while to get round to starting it, what with a bout of laziness, my daughter being born and all. But hey here I am. Still doing a bonkers mad hobby that I enjoy and gets me excercise as well.
