home.hetnet.nl/mr_11/173/erwin47/models/tripod/I just came across this site. Yes, a free model of a tripod as seen in Jeff Wayne's Musical Version. It is a paper model, not a plastic one. You just download it, print it out, cut, and glue it together. I have built several paper models in the past. They usually come out looking pretty good as long they are not rushed. I'll have to try building one myself as soon I get more ink for my printer. Some suggestions for paper models, from my experience, is to make sure the glue is dry between steps and to use clear, paper glue.

In my experience a glue stick works best. No warping, no discoloration over time. I saw this model several years ago, but since Jeff Wayne's design is so *very* far from what Wells wrote, I keep hoping someone will come up with a more canonical model. Guess this is a case where if you want something done right, you should do it yourself, huh?

I tried to make a tripod ages ago but the draft one failed so I've given up for now and concentrated on other things.

Well I was thinking about taking a stab at it myself, but your comment about "the draft one failed" suggests this isn't something to be tried by a first-timer. May I ask, just what happened that causes you to say it "failed"?

Sure thing. I suggest you should have a stab at it because it is a proccess of trial and error. When I say it failed I mean it failed to stand up. The legs simply buckled and the entire thing just fell over. I might have a try again in future because it would be nice to roll out and army of these things.

[glow=red,2,300]There are some pics of a completed JW paper tripod on my site www.geocities.com/supreme_martian_overlord but if you want an army of them you might want to reconsider... there is a lot of time and work in one. I'd suggest instead buying one of the many wargames miniatures available in a wide variety of scales. Black Hat miniatures brought out a nice simple one recently based on the woking memorial sculpture! [/glow]
