Hi All, The February 22, 2006 issue of Jane's Defence Weekly features an interesting article entitled, 'Directed energy lasers - fact or fiction'. The cover page of the article features the following full-page Alvim Corrêa illustration! ;D drzeus.best.vwh.net/wotw/illus/alvim-correa3.jpgHere's the opening paragraph from www.janes.com/defence/news/jdw/jdw060216_2_n.shtml"More than a century after HG Wells' fictitious Martians used their 'heat-rays' to barbecue half the UK armed forces and to cut a warship in half, it is still unclear exactly when effective, 'speed-of-light' high-energy laser technology will enter the battlefield."A complete copy of the issue (and article) may be downloaded from the site below. Please note that it's a large download from a Chinese site I found on the Internet. All material is the copyright of Jane's Defence Weekly and I'm not sure they gave permission to our Chinese friends to scan and publish the magazine on the Web. Read at your own risk! down.nmag.cn/other/Janes.Defence.Weekly.Magazine.February.22.2006.pdfIt appears that the typos on the cover page were caused by the OCR software used for the scan. Cheers!
