On the left there is a person taking a picture of it, I think he would just actualy crap himself and run to the hills!

WOW!! This is the first time I've ever seen an illustration featuring the Tripods that I thought actually evoked what Wells wrote. I've seen the same "model" in other paintings, but they didn't have the rear basket, and I don't remember the box-like heat ray being there before either. I spoze it's a valid interpretation that some Tripods have baskets and others don't.

Yeah... I love this picture. It was posted in the Fighting Machine gallery topic very recently, and it is a beautiful piece of artwork that shows many hours of commitment. Gotta love TroC's work.

Absolutely cracking image. The attention to detail in the crowds is incredible. By far the best WOTW illustration that I have ever seen, thanks for the link.

The best ever, so much for Jeff Wayne's toytown FM's. D.F.

As I have said in the other thread: this is how a true TWOTW movie should look like!

The best ever, so much for Jeff Wayne's toytown FM's. D.F. Well I like Jeff Waynes tripods to a certain extent but unfortunately when you see something like that you realise that the Jeff Wayne tripods are lacking that sinister, fantastic steampunk look. I can't help shouting but - why the BLOODY HELL can't some film company give us a film with imagery along the lines of that picture instead of modernised crap or naff looking puppets.

You know, you almost took the words out of my mouth. When I saw this image last week I thought to myself "why the hell are film studios p***ing about with modern remakes, while getting up peoples noses". I mean, look at that picture, not only is it a work of art, but it's almost TRUE to what H.G envisioned.
As much as I like Jeffs/Trims machines, the design by TroC will always be the closest.

It's infuriating. You've got a guy like Troc who does more justice to Wells novel in 1 painting than all the others who've made these so called film adaptations so far.
