I bought the dvd last Tuesday and have been watching an episode a night. Its very dated now but still a pleasure to watch, and it brings back many memories.

Yeah, series 2 was never actually released on video or dvd. The recordings that do appear are one's that have been cleaned up taped off TV recordings. They do sometimes appear on ebay, but go for silly money. . . Im still looking.

Good to see those pics, I'm "Tripods" bonkers!! Thanks H_C You're bonkers! I do like the 'upskirt' shot- second from left on the bottom row- almost like the view the narrator of the WOTW would have when he jumped into the boiling water. I wonder if the masters were actually piloting the tripods though- compare their shape to that door on the front- or maybe that's for a temporary gallows?!

The masters (I think) were inside the Tripods. During the final episode, one of the Tripods is taken down and the creature inside killed with a granade. And just for you Donal, a bit more upskirt and a bit of leg action ;D

[/quote] Now correct me if im wrong or if this has already been said but ive noticed that there is a slight error in this picture. The martian is firing on that ship but the spray isnt coming out of its heatray. Its coming out of one of the pieces of metal that hang underneath it. Just thought id point it out LoL.

also, look at the size of the waves next to the size of the ship, I just think they look a bit big. Beautifully rendered though.

Waves are a pain to render in 3D programs, they never behave like they're supposed to, but I think this is really nice.
Whenever I see pictures of the Thunderchild scene though I always find that the Tripods are too high up. In other words, how deep is the sea and how long are the Tripod legs?
The famous Michael Trim one as well, that Tripod is way too big I think, but it's still a fabulous piece of work.

That particular tripod mesh has really done the rounds! Yeah- the heat ray from the antenna- you have to look at it for a few seconds though- a bit like an optical illusion. The scale of the waves is way out- an easy thing to correct, but conviincing waves are very difficult to put together withough a decent particle modeller- this looks very Bryce. Pretty, but unrealistic... Also- the sea is higher on the right- intended to be a wave in the wake of the ship perhaps, but it looks odd- and the tripod at the back looks like it's behind the water- as though the horizon is actually the back of a swimming pool-a Gerry Anderson version of Jeff Wayne's the War of the Worlds?

Yest it is true, it is not a perfect picture, But seeing a thunderchild, scene, art etc. always means a lot to me. As for the serie Tripods, I saw theses images probably for the first time in January, I have to tell you all, that I started on wotw forums for the first time on december 2005, at upcomming epic. So that is why i did'nt see it before. Chantale.
