Hi people, just got the SFX through my door and it has a two page 'war' article with a brand new pic! Its possibly the scene weve heard so much about when the survivors huddle around a downed tripod....

[glow=purple,2,300]Interesting image!
Looking at the people on the right, between the bloke leaning left and the one to his left looking up, there is a winding 'S' shaped thing, and possibly another below. Is this an FM tentacle?[/glow]

My extras friend said this about the photo...
"That scene is definitely the one. I was actually in the tunnel at one point and (depending how they edit) Cruise and Fanning come through it toward the Tripod which would be approximately 40-60 feet (I'm also a Metric Moron) from the tunnel opening. I don't even know if I will be able to spot myself. When you get the Call Sheet, it lists 140 survivors... and they dirtied us up pretty good. I'm wearing a dark torn-up jacket, layers of sweaters, navy plastic shopping bag to schlep. * Incidentally--although the tunnel looks like aged concrete, when I leaned against it....hollow, absolutely brilliant set design. Until you touch it you would swear it was 75 year-old concrete. I'll give the file a few hundred more tries later."

another observation: does anyone else see that wire that goes up to something we can't see? is it like...supporting the tripod or something? i know it is "crashed" but a 100 foot crashed tripod would still look huge

Looks like the army took this one down ;D
Sweet, that means there not invincible. Maybe this is the books Weybridge scene? Instead of get under the water its get in the tunnel, and the army blows the crap out of the invader? Id pay to see that, i dont know about the rest of you.

According to the extras we dont take it down, tripods are going down all over the place, the soldiers simply close in and keep them at bay while they die. The only thing thats not known is why they are dying, is it as the book says or some other Koepp plot device?

Well if the martian does crawl out of the hatch at that point it looks like it will get a severe case of lead poisoning.
