[glow=red,2,300]For my 1898th post I thought it an idea to mention that H.G.Wells book Little Wars was, as far as I'm aware, the first published set of wargaming rules, starting the hobby that endures to this day. While I could have mentioned this in the games or other Wells books section the degree of crossover and general appeal seemed to me appropriate for the general topic.
Wells wrote at least one other book on the subject Floor Games which Charles Keller reviews in the winter/spring 2005 issue from the H.G. Wells Society, The Americas.
I haven't had the chance to read Litle Wars yet and have yet to order Floor Games (With a nice little discount thanks to my society membership) but I thought it worth starting a thread for its discussion.
Particularly I wonder how easy it would be to use the rules therein for War of the Worlds wargaming? [/glow]

Were these rules written for the 54mm scale?

Ive read little Wars! Good simple set of rules. I dont think the scale mattered if you adjusted the measures accordingly.
