There are rumors abound that LXG will jump on the WotW bandwagon and create a sequal based off of the 2nd volume of the comic. SAWWWEEETT!!

That'd be great if they do it properly!
I saw LXG on telly recently, and in one of the shots of the grubby areas of a city at night, among the various bill-posters stuck on the wall of a building is one proclaiming, 'Mysterious explosions seen on Mars!', or something to that effect. Makes one hope...

[glow=red,2,300]Are any of these rumours new? There was talk about the next LXG being filmed in Australia with most of the cast replaced by Australian actors ages ago (and that rumour was broadcast on tv) but there has been nothing I've heard new since then. [/glow]

Hopefully rumours are all they are - the complete and utter screw up that was the first film should not be repeated!
Don't get me wrong, I think both novels are probably some of the best science fiction I have ever read, and I was overjoyed at the prospect of the first being made into a film.
Then I saw it, and was totally unimpressed.
And given that the second book (IMHO) is darker than the first, I can only see myself being even more disappointed this time.

[glow=purple,2,300]Last I heard on LX2 was that it was going to have a complete new storyline, and depart from the book entirely. I know Sean Connery didn't want to reprise his role as Quartermain, and that a few new characters would be added to the league. There was a rumour that Well's time traveller might make an appearance...taking the league into the future.
After the appalling LX1 movie, I won't hold by breath for an LX2 movie. Doubt I'd see it even if it was WOTW based. Probably hire it from the video shop when my paint stops drying.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Well at least the time traveller is in LXG, albeit in the short story published with the comic.I've heard that the directers commentary mentions that the film was to have led in to number 2 with the news of the martian invasion coming in at the end of the film. This was replaced with the funereal ending instead in case Connery didn't want to reprise the role. The last news I'd heard about LXG2 was on the E news program in Australia where they cited the success of the film in Australia and Europe as reasons for the sequel being made here with an all-Australian cast.
I'd like to see an LXG2 esp based on the 2nd vol of the comic but as we haven't heard any confirmation I'm not holding my breath. Maybe if Guillermo makes it after he's finished with Hellboy we might get a good movie. [/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]I liked it too.... but it was still nowhere near what it could have been. It was a popcorn film... done right the popcorn would have slipped from my gasp to spill on the floor and what I was chewing would have dropped from my gaping mouth.[/glow]

I haven't seen the movie but I've read the novelisation of the film and at the end a guy comes running past the characters shouting about a Martian invasion. I won't hold my breath though.

What?!?!?!
Wait, let me get this straight...
A novelisation of a film version of a comic strip?
What next?
A comic strip based on the novelisation?
For feck's sake...

[glow=red,2,300]It'd be great to be an extra in a WotW related program. [/glow]
