H.G.Wells and Me. Next Monday(14), on BBC4...21.30 to 22.00. (From Radio Times Listing) "Jonathan Ross, Lord Hattersley. Patrick Moore and author China Mieville pay tribute to the godfather of science fiction, whose War of the Worlds has been filmed by Steven Speilburg" Sounds Interesting...I hope. ;D D.F.

I don't have satellite or cable currently so a run down would be good DF.

Balls! I haven't got BBC4. I'll have to ask my sister as she's got loads of channels. I wonder if it will be on BBC1 or 2 later on though.

Brilliant, I will have to tape that, unless SKY goes bust in the mean time. Im sure they could have made it into 60 mins instead of 30, they're sure to have enough material.

Just finished, not bad no mention of the 53 WotW movie or Pendragon's version, showed brief clip from Spielburgs trailer, nice vintage footage of Wells himself, nice shots of Horsell Common (the real one not the Mod) ;D Shepperton, Primrose hill, plus a fair few talking heads talking about Wells and his work. 7/10. Worth a watch, should have been a hour long though. D.F.

It was a very good 30 minute programme with over 10 minutes on WOTW, including Ray Harrythingies artwork for the 'never' made film, no mention as D.F said of the 53 or Pendragon (coughs). Suprised to find out that Jonathan Ross is a Wells fan, though his views on Speilbergs WOTW was much to be desired. Intermingled with some nice shots about Horsell Common (the place and not me), Sheperton and a brief stop at Primrose Hill.
The rest of the programme was in brief his early years and his novels such as 'Time Machine', 'Island Of', Invisible Man', 'First Men In The Moon' and other works like 'Kipps', and some nice period film of wells. I rather liked the photo of Wells and Enstein.

I'd be interested to hear what Ross said about Spielbergs WOTW!

Well, they showed it 3 times last night/this morning – at 21.30; 00.50; and 03.20.
It’s Beeb 4, they must show it again – hell, they need something to fill it up with.
