It occurs to me, if HG Wells was alive today, what would he think of our little forum? Would he think it's neat to have a following like ours, or just be creeped out by our obsessiveness.

I think he would like the fact that we like his book and that it caused discussions on this forum about Man's future and society, Martians and astronomy (in which he was interested himself), the book itself...

Good topic. I was thinking about this the other day and wondering if when he wrote the book he could have possibly imagined that a legion of fans would be discussing its finer points so later on.

[glow=red,2,300]I think he might be a little miffed that we're all chatting about his early work while his later stuff is all but forgotten [/glow]

Wouldn't it be great if you could go back in time to the point he was writing the book and see the mystified expression on his face when you tell him what a classic part of literature his science fiction novells have turned into while most of his other works are little known by the general public.

I had to vote for:
I prefer my Martians to these people. Too creepy
Or should it be this person... People think I am creepy... and I am most likely the only non Wells fan on the site
