Hello all, As some of you may remember, I've got the documentary "Great Books The War of the Worlds" from the Learning Channel on tape. However, the tape I've got is is in ntsc so I could not play it on my videorecorder. But I've bought a new player and I have finally seen the doc! It's pretty cool although it's more about H.G.Wells then on The War of the Worlds itself. In it are some very great footage: the walking FM that I have posted on this forum a while ago, a fiew fom the ruined house, the cylinder and martians itself and a VERY COOL piece of film were you can see the narrator walk through Dead London and you can hear the howling of the Martians in the background. That really gave me goosebumbs! Very simple done, but very impressive. Then you see a FM standing still. Very cool done, and I will post a picture of it soon! People, I can recommend this documentary to you all! Johan

I daresay it'll resurface on general release though this Summer, surely? At the very least on satellite/cable.

Thanks! But looking at the actual offers, the first says "Paramount" under the notes, so looks like that's the George Pal movie misfiled here; and the second copy... they want $90 for a used VHS??? What, is it made of gold??? Sheesh!

An e-bay search for "great books war of the worlds" under "DVD & Movies" brings up 2 e-bay stores selling copies for $10, that's a direct sale price not an auction. Doesn't sound too bad, altho I doubt I'll ever buy another VHS as they degrade over time.

[glow=red,2,300]Can anyone find an email for the people who own the rights to it? Might be worthwhile nagging them about the potential sales of the DVD what with all the hype about to explode etc [/glow]
