It is without doubt that this year will spawn god knows what WOTW cr*p, such as some just left school group who think they can rap and make a rap record sample around a classic WOTW track, blow up Martian doll (Ooo er missus), Red Weed toys that when you put them in soappy warm water you can throw them against a wall and they stick (like those toys in the 80s), Martian doll with pull chord that says 'Ulla, Ulla, me invade earth', Mc Donalds Happy Meals with toys that last all but 5 minutes if your lucky, car bumper stickers that read 'Get that close and you'll have a Heat Ray up your a*se'.

Us fans have little WOTW merch variety as it is...this is a blessing! I sure as heck am gonna buy any Tom Cruise and Martian Invader action figures that come out...t-shirts, posters... Pendragon isn't going to give us much but a DVD or something...but the other two versions are bound to unleash mountains of cr*p

The pitty is, that IF Bill Gates/Microsoft-friends are involved in funding Mr. Hines movie (I don't think I've seen any proof of this) they would provide some very valuable sources into the marketing bussiness? Hines says that the backers were the top brass at microsoft and they agreed to back him after a viewing of bug wars in Seattle at a film festivel, its all in the HowStuffWorks.com interview.

Interesting about movie tie-ins... when Titanic came out I just kept waiting... and waiting... for the White Star linens, china, flatware, Titanic models, etc. Nothing.
Then chanced to talk about it with a chap from (I think it was Fox?)- admitted they had missed the boat, as it were. Lost a lot of marketing $$ on that one.
The odd thing, and it's true here too, is that the Titanic story was public domain, so ANYONE could have capitalized on it. Same with WOTW... so perhaps all you creative minds should start planning NOW. If the movie is not a POS (and it probably won't be; at least the mas audience will like it), then the sales could be amazing.
Just my .02 cents worth.

CPP Oh, you missed our company then as we stocked a huge array of Titanic & White Star Line items that included linen, china, silverwear, crystal, uniforms, WSL clothing and much much more. . . .
