If correct, could we be seeing Speilbergs WOTW Fighting Machines howling in the film (Aloo) like in the book.

The report (seen elsewhere on the site) is from a film set extra.
'Just worked 2 days in the Los Angeles area-- 1 day on the Universal lot and 1 day on L.A. streets (subbing for Boston). Friday/February 25... We were ash-covered survivors crowding in on the wrecked/downed Tripod, being held at bay by Marine/National Guard types. The hatch door opens...Oh, my God! What's that coming out of the alien craft?..... Later in the evening some of us were re-wardrobed to portray a crowd trying to muscle its way onto a ferry(under the falling fake snow-- probably to match footage from back east) and (once again) being held back by the military. Ray and Rachel (Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning) were present in both sequences........Monday/February 28... The set was an intersection, with one corner being a park/playground with a statue of a early patriot with a tri-cornered hat...statue crawling with red vines. Red vines on fire escapes, overturned cars, a UPS van, and up the sides of buildings. More guardsmen, Humvees, automatic weapons, and us as weary, dirty, overwrought survivors dragging our luggage and belongings with us. Tripods calling in the distance. At one point as we walked across an intersection, we were directed to look down the block in the direction of a hotel as if a crashed Tripod could be seen (at about the 10-story level). Lots of various tracking shots with a very hard-working Cruise and Fanning. The sequence should look pretty impressive once the SFX are dropped into place. As far as I am aware there are only a few more shooting days here in the L.A. area, so I'm lucky to have been booked to work in the last week or so.
