A friend found this somewhere and gave it to me!
I think it's a BBC Drama audio radio thing done around 1967, I think it may be missing some scenes as I haven't heard all of it yet... It can sound a bit corney but the detail and phrases like "Bloomin' Heck! There the bastards are!" Give a real fel to it!
I'll give more info when I can!

I have bits 2 to 6, I am missing part one. And Yes Part 2 starts by our host (journalist) saying that he has already told us of when he and Olgilvy saw the flashes of light from Mars.... And then the first cylinder lands...
So nothing much is missing (Probably...)
--- There are some good sound effects like when the lid moves, there is screaming etc... And there are good sayings, and the characters have definatly got some characteristics on them! Like one person might talk differently and might have a stutter etc..
And when the first martian rises, there are strange noises, I have no idea what it is supost to be but hey ho!!
---
At first the heat ray sounds like a whistle but then there is a good burning, fiery sound (well, it's ok...)
---
UPDATE! I'm listning to abit of it now, and they just said something about the tripods crossing the river, or something, and heading towards tanks...
I have said before that I have not got the first bit, but I have no idea what this new thing is about....
If it is a "modern" (1960 odd) radio version, then It sounds good, true to the book, with some tiny exceptions, and it is brilliant! I'll listen to it all, mabey, and have a full "review" of it!

I have the whole broadcast, all 6 parts. I had talked to Rob about making it available to the members of WOTW online, but he must have forgotten. If Rob would want to host it i can make it available. ;D Cheers Thorgrimm

Hi,
I was just on WinMX and found some files labelled: HG Wells - War of the Worlds (BBC) I'm in the queue to get them downloaded! Hopefully shouldn't take too long!

I got all six BBC episodes downloaded. I had a listen to all of them to some extent! The person who wrote it obviously has a thing for helicopters. And the character playing the lead had already got the Martians figured out in episode two! Smart arse! It's basically a 1967 version of the 1953's version of the 1898 book... with typical English wit and humour! My favourite bit was when the lead is convincing his wife that it's perfectly safe for him to go down to the pit on Horsell Common to watch the top unscrew, but when she asks to accompany him there's a terribly bad pause before he rebutts her! Classic radio acting! Forgive my cynical view! But if you can't laugh what can you do? Take up politics!
