hey! i dont know if anyones seen this but last night i watched the v sequal series (the crap one) and when the visitors are attacking they use the destruction footage straight from the 1953 wotw movie with blue lasers painted in!

Can't say I'm surprised Kurt.. but well spotted. I've seen endless straight to video films 'borrowing' footage from well known films over the years.

it was pretty funny as those 1953 special effect looked far more impressive than the 80's one in the whole series!

It also crops up in that kid's film with River Pheonix... I think it was called "Explorers"

Technically it is not stealing since they paid a fee for the right to use the footage from the film. It's called "Stock Footage" and it's a common practice in film and television. And it is not just in cheap productions either. In "Indepedence Day" they use footage from The "Judgement Day" sequence of "Terminator 2" during the alien destruction of Los Angeles. It sticks out like thumb if you have seen "T2" a number of times....

Wow Dudalb, that's news to me! I never noticed even though I saw both movies a number of times... Next time I'll have a closer look.
CrazyIan, yeah, that's one of the reasons I remember Explores so vividly, because of the WotW footage shown in that one kids dreams.
