I would call them, "The Green death rays of hell death fire without causing flames of death in meson mantaray tip boom bangabang directional killer skeleton of marine commander viewing death mega rays of doom" You could also call them green rays like everyone else. R If you have some smoke munitions to defuse any 'ray' beams, then problem solved

I'd call them 'snot rays'.
They can be neutralised with a large hanky, optimum patterning yet to be determined.

personally I call them the green "Jooom! Jooom! Jooom! Jooom! Jooom!" rays of death and I call the other one the "YADDA YADDAH YAH!" ray of death

Durring the initial appearance of the ships when all hell breaks loose either Forrester or General Thing calls it a skeleton beam.

[shadow=red,left,300]I did a couple of morphs in the Fan Creations section of War Machines to Klingon ships. The similarities are quite obvious. The actual connection between the two was amazing to realize, and makes me even more pleased that the 1953 invasion inspired such a nice, though fictitional, Trek tech![/shadow]

Hi! What do you call the green ray things that the flying machine shoots out? I just called them radioactive rays some time ago but now need to call them something with an edge, i'm making a board game with Aliens(from film), Predators (from the film), Terminators, Space Marines and of course Martians. It will be a take in turns war stratergy game, only made from cardboard but i have a HUGE instuction booklet and have to know what the green death ray things are called from the film. General Mann - That skeleton beam must be what they used to wipe out the French City. Forester - It neutralises mesons somehow..... that's the glue that holds matter together.... cross their lines of magnetic force and it just ceases to exist! [grabs generals lapels and shakes him roughly] Take my word for it General! This kind of weaponry is useless against that kind of power! You'd better let Washington know! Comander - Everybody out! Everybody out! Everybody AAAAAGH!!!! [Glows red then green with skeleton in dark silhouette then fades away]. I love it! Aren't I sad? And I a grown woman too Zoe yeahhh!!!!!! the SKELETON BEAM

Kind of inspires to to think of The Skeleton Ray as A Short range low yeild version of Star Trek's Photon Torpedo

Didn't the Kilrathi have a Meson cannon in Wing Commander? (the game, not the highly riseable movie.)
The 'blaster beam' sound effect...the psychedelic greenness...ahhh. Fifties sci-fi at it's best.

[glow=red,2,300]With all it's flaws as a WotW movie, it will always be remembered as one of the greatest of the great sci-fi classic films! [/glow]
