Hi! What do you call the green ray things that the flying machine shoots out? I just called them radioactive rays some time ago but now need to call them something with an edge, i'm making a board game with Aliens(from film), Predators (from the film), Terminators, Space Marines and of course Martians. It will be a take in turns war stratergy game, only made from cardboard but i have a HUGE instuction booklet and have to know what the green death ray things are called from the film.

[glow=red,2,300]I would call those things Death Rays.
"No, a Hyper Death Ray."
"So what can we do?"
"Hyper Die?"
From an episode of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. [/glow]

The weapons in question were determined to be 'meson neutralizers'a type of molecular debonding device.Today we would refer to them as disruptor cannons.Your standard Klingon carries one of these all the time.

[glow=red,2,300]I once saw someones take on Wells' Martians in the Trek universe for the Last Unicorn Games Trep RPG... Imagine trying to find a way to co-exist with a species that conciders you dinner ... of course there already has been a nod to the Martians.. in the Borg and the U.S.S. Thunderchild...[/glow]

i'm making a board game with Aliens(from film), Predators (from the film), Terminators, Space Marines and of course Martians. Wow! What a crossover! When you say Space Marines you are refering to the Colonial Marines in Aliens right and not the WH4K Space Marines (Dark Angels, UltraMarines, Space Wolves, etc)? Anyhow I digress.. I thought the green beams were generated from some sort of gamma ray cannon, but then again I had been watching a lot of Incredible Hulk back in those days. I think Clayton's description is probably the most "accurate"

They're "green rays." As far as I know that's what a lot of people refer to them as. Of course in the movie they have the same effect as a heatray, except make things fade away green instead of red. I guess we can assume the heatray was always suppose to make things catch on fire in addition to a red fade out.

The heat ray did light things on fire! Remember in the bunker? The Marines are running around in flames.

According to Forrester, and I quote from the film, "(The green rays) neutralizes mesons somehow. They’re the atomic fuel holding matter together. Cut across their lines of magnetic force and any object will simply cease to exist."
So there ya' go.

General Mann refers to them as
Quote:
That Skeleton Beam must be what they used to wipe out the French City.

General Mann - That skeleton beam must be what they used to wipe out the French City. Forester - It neutralises mesons somehow..... that's the glue that holds matter together.... cross their lines of magnetic force and it just ceases to exist! [grabs generals lapels and shakes him roughly] Take my word for it General! This kind of weaponry is useless against that kind of power! You'd better let Washington know! Comander - Everybody out! Everybody out! Everybody AAAAAGH!!!! [Glows red then green with skeleton in dark silhouette then fades away]. I love it! Aren't I sad? And I a grown woman too Zoe

I would call them, "The Green death rays of hell death fire without causing flames of death in meson mantaray tip boom bangabang directional killer skeleton of marine commander viewing death mega rays of doom"
You could also call them green rays like everyone else.

R I liked that old Lenny Henry joke about Sellafield; "The government has announced that Winscale is to be renamed 'Sellafield' - because it sounds nicer..... and from now on, nuclear radiation is to be called 'magic moon-beams'." ;D I think they should be called 'fairy lights' Zoe
