Was there really an episode in the TV show that featured one of the old Tripods from the earlier 1898 invasion?
A friend mentioned it a few years ago and I did read it somewhere on the web.

A tripod machine features in the episode, 'Dust to dust' where it is unearthed at an Indian reservation. It is reffered to by the Advocates as an, 'Early-model battle craft'...And it's really cool! The legs are reddish and crab-like, while the body is similar to the War-machines. The main lens of the craft is actually the heat-ray, and is red/orange, while the tips of it's wings are blue. A fantastic episode, though the machine is only on-screen for about a minute and a half.

Are there any pictures of this machine on-line?

Nice one Graz cheers for that. I was expecting a tall Tripod, obviously not the Michael Trim one, but one over a hundred foot tall. Still I suppose Hollywood knows best.

I guess it is just short of 100ft tall. Remember, those machines are quite wide, which makes it look shorter than it actually is. And there are three rather nasty Aliens piloting it. Shame they didnt use more of 'em in the series. I was so much hoping to see them again in the time-travel episode from season 2.

it was a pretty neat effect concidering the conditions of the series, the legs were too thin though for my tastes, but the SS film had the same flaw.
