Not sure if this has been brought up...but if ol' Spielburg wasn't directing this movie, who would you like to see have an aim at it? I think with Tim Burton we would have had a faithful retelling with his own dark twist. I think he would have been an appropriate choice. Peter Jackson perhaps? We can't forget Ridley Scott, can we? Sure, Alien was mostly low lighting and fog, but seeing his more recent films, he could have given us something good. Especially if H.R. Giger got involved...imagine the biomechanical sexual tripods we would get...phallus shaped legs, pregnant belly hoods, and breast-shaped Martians no doubt. Hm...

Sounds like the makings of an anime adaptation Tim Burton would do a fantastic job with the imagery and he could rope Johnny Depp in to play the narrator. I think James Cameron could match the grandiose production values of Spielberg. Let's not forget he directed the Sci-fi classic Aliens and is also a superb illustrator.

Giger is the only way to go... Other directors: Alex Proyas - The Crw, Dark City and I, Robot Tarsem Singh - The Cell The Wachowski Brothers - The Matrix-trilogy Paul Verhoeven - Robocop, Total Recall and Starship Troopers Tim Burton - He'd definitely make the ultimate goth-trip. Imagine biomechanical sci-fi in Sleepy Hollow setting and atmosphere!
