Were the 'tripods' invulnerable to earthly weaponry short of nukes. It was mentioned that nukes were never mentioned, let alone used...but in other parts of the world nuke would have been. Were any 'tripods' taken down by Earth forces? Just asking...

Nukes in the Asylum film version?, I don't think they were ever mentioned. Incidently, the machines in this film are not tripods as they have 4 legs.

Sorry for my replying so late to this just that I think i remember seeing the director say they have 4 legs actually, but with 2 extra "grabber legs".

I'd have prefered them to have had 5 legs to keep the legs odd numbered.

Fair enough Trivet though I myself would have prefered them to have had 3 legs.
Though I guess their six legged version works just as well.

I thought 19 legs would have been great, imagine the look on the animator faces when asked to create a 19 legged walk cycle, tee hee hee

Reminds me of an old joke:
Q: What goes "99, thump! 99, thump!"
A: A centipede with a wooden leg.
