Yeah.....if. I doubt he'd make a squel.
Looks like we'll just have to pool our resources and make it ourselves.

I noticed the London Underground sign to the left of the picture.
Spielberg tried to sue London underground saying that they stole a sign he used in Jurassic park to create the famous Underground sign.
Lawyers were quick to point out that the Underground had used the sign for well over 50 years and unless 'berg retracted his claim London Underground would sue the crap out of him. Needless to say Bergless looked like a total knob and retracted his claim.

I think that's an early bit of concept art for a comic book sequel to the Paramount movie that's coming out. I seem to remember the two being associated. It's odd though because the comic book (I think) is set in the US.... www.newsarama.com/Boom/WoWorlds/WoWSecondWavePre.htm

It's a rumor which has floated around on the Internet for years, but it is all but true. Tripod

Maybe it has something to do with Spielbergs suggestion that his aliens are here for our water. I believe he once said something like that in an interview.

Johan I do believe, if I rememeber rightly, it was David Koepp who said he "thought they may be here for our water". I guess it was a parallel to our current war situations throughout the world and a superpower going after............ oil maybe.

Some stupid idea no doubt - like all these tripods being buried underground for thousands of years!

How many tripods did it take to attack the planet? Thousands i'd say, some must have been detected. With all the surface radar we have that can dip miles below the surface at least one would be detected and dug up. Before any one says 'ooh they got stelth tech, then wed still be seeing something wrong with thousands of 100 foot chambers dug into the rock all over the planet.
Underground tripods indeed. Total noncence just like the rest of the sh***y film

Bah! I loved the film despite the Robbie survival issue, the EMP vagaries and the slightly stolid third act! Still the scariest alien invasion I've ever seen, in the first half.
I just wish I'd written the script. Some of Koep's ideas were really very good, and from the interviews I've read with him some of the thinking behind them is really solid and quite sinister in a Quatermass fashion - but he failed in properly translating them in a screenplay and the result is a rather thin affair that relies to heavily on Spielberg's top horror direction and Cruise's remarkable ability to act despite being a complete fool in real life.
But if only I had written the script. *Sigh* See 'The Great Invasion' for details. I'd have kept the focus where Koep had it though.
And top fan art, though why is it that aliens are never able to fully destroy St Stephen's Tower and Parliament on posters and DVD covers? They always seem satisfied with just kicking it around a bit.
