Hey peeps ..lay off clayton... ok he may put his points a bit ..erm forcefully ...but as EVERYBODY is keen to point out ..he/she is only stating their opinion
I now know whats has been buggng me about this production .... QUITE SIMPLY ...
See it all before, pure and simple ... there ain't gonna be anything ground breaking in this film, we are all gonna see recognisable images ie Yellow Crown Victoria cab getting stamped on for example .. as usually happens in these types of movies, I dare say some scenes won't be too disimilar to the 53 movie.
I will be sat in the cinema, but I doubt whether or not I will feel passionatley about the film after I leave the cinema...some films stay with me , others don't ...dunno if this one will
It really does strike as a big money making machine pure and simple ...no passion, atmosphere...or spirit of Wells

E.T. has been voted the all time greatest feel good movie tear jerker ever made, SS made that so why cant this film have feeling, passion, atmosphere...or spirit of Wells?

It's fairly obvious that they're mainly fans of the 1953 film and radio broadcast - not the book, and they're just putting in similarities from the book in a vain effort to please the fans. It's appalling and when no major studio yet has done full justice to Wells novel - there really is no excuse for it!

HG Wells didn't write ET, also You never seen say the Elephant Man, based on a true story .. that is full of sadness and emotion, - filmed in black and white, set in Victorian times ..It positively reeks the amosphere of the time.
look, I see Pendragons film .. It may make me want to read the book again, bang out the album when I get in and on the car stereo for a while, It will hit a nerve , after all haven't we all been waiting for this version
I see THIS film ....I may go for a kebab, get out my copy of playboy and put Duran Duran on the stereo, maybe even put the ID4 DVD on

I haven't given up just yet and I've often pointed out that I'm sceptical of Pendragon - just like yourself and many others on here from the start. So it's not anything new on my part. Still, "chin up" - as they say.

HG Wells didn't write ET, "HG Wells didnt write ET" I have got to hand it to you tomohawk, that was pure genius. Your basing your judgement on bigoted preconceptions of hollywood using utterly different creations like ID4 as some kind of bench mark from which to measure how this film will turn out, you just cant apply that logic to this film, its being made by people who have a proven track record with good and serious films, up to now NOTHING seen thus far looks bad or cartoon like, nothing at all. Changes have been made, none of us know if the changes work or not and we cant tell from snippets from a staged interview how any of this will turn out. I am willing to set aside my misgivings about this film because ultimately we will be rewarded with an absolutey amazing adaptation of war of the worlds.
