I have just been looking at the Superbowl trailor and thinking back to a few months ago about some info released saying that Cruise was being chased by a Fighting Machine - well I think the trailor shows it. . . The last few moments as the Crysler people carrier is tearing down a street with fire and explosions behind it?, looks like he's being chased to me. This could just be that scene.

According to Spileberg hes chased pretty much through the film, so to say hes chased by a fighting machine is a little like stating the obvious. Most of the flames behind the van are from the exploding tanker that hits the house but it could be a fighting machine. I wonder are you talking about a scene reprted ages ago in which Cruise is chased by a fighting machine while hes driving a car (in which we theorised it could be his mustang) in that respect you could be correct. At some point he must ditch the van in favour of his mustang as it is seen in the pics at the house under the jumbo jet, so this couls mean he crashed the van as a result of the chase. The mustang may have been immune due to the battery being disconnected due to repairs being undertaken by Ray, take the logic a bit further the mustang may break down due to the same repairs which puts them at the house under the jumbo.

yeah I kind off said all that I wanted to say there dude, now its time for them (Pendragon) just to release it and we will see what we will see. I agreed with malfunction that I wouldnt slagg off the Pendragon project as it was getting a few people in a twist, so now I stay neutral. I do believe that most of the guys agreed with me as I never told lies and I still believe everything I said its just I now leave them in peace to root for Hines, its their right after all. I'm still not seeing it until someone I trust tells me its not complete crap, thats my right too.

Fingers crossed Cruise is squshed under a tripod ;D It could happen... Perhaps ironically as they are all cheering under the motionless dead war machine towering above them. Then a crow lands on a dangerously outstretched and frozen tentacle, shifting the centre of gravity. *Crreeeeek* *CRASH!* "Oh my God! Ray's been ironically crushed to death!" Me: "Guffaw. I like this director's cut."

If Speilberg has said that Cruise is being chased most of the time, now differant from everyone else then really as I got the impression these invaders were always hard on our heels - so it seems during the 12th time Ive read the book. If the Martians use some sort of EMP then its bound to turn up half way through the film as so far pictures reveal too many vehicles when the Martians are warring in the move. I stlll feel this is the scene referred to as Cruise being chased. The wall of fire and its duartion seems a little to large for something from a tanker (maybe the one thrown off the bridge), and who's saying its a tanker full of explosive chemicals. H_C

It is my belief that the TV Spot shows Spielberg's modern take on the 'The Fighting Begins' chapter from the book. Cruise looks like he knows what is going on, his son asks him what he has seen... but Cruise isn't wasting any time he wants to get away from there, he has seen what the Martians can do at the cylinder site. He says to Manni 'Get in or you're gonna die!' so he must know what could happen, he has seen the heat ray at work, just like in the book. While he is trying to persuade the unsuspecting Manni to get in the car, the Martians start to sweep the countryside with their heat ray... Cruise floors it and gets out of there.
That's how it all seems to me...

YES YES! I think thats it! Its like the bit in the book where the narrator see's the effects of the heatray and flees, as he flees he meets the man with the cart babbling about some mundane thing and he says "dont you know whats coming? Death is coming!" (or words like that). I think this bit is this films take on that, the cylinder has landed and the aliens have emerged, he witnesses the heatray and knows he must leave the area, wen he gets in the van he sees Manny (who would be this films take on the guy with the cart) who tells him to get out of the car and doesnt understand his urgent need to escape. Cruise tells Manny he must flee with him or he will die.
