checking on other sites related to the Tom cruise /Speilberg movie. is there any truth that this is a remake of the 1953 George Pal Movie?

No, it is not a remake. The 1953 version, although having the title War of the Worlds, was nothing like what Wells had written, and was adapted for the fears and paranoia's of the time.
Spielbergs is taking Well's novel, transplanting it to America but keep the events and themes of the original novel. However, judging by other movies, Spielly may put in a nod to the 1953 movie (perhaps taking the 1953 gliders & restyling them as flying machines).

Spielly may put in a nod to the 1953 movie. Maybe he already has, he he. Check out the street lights in the teaser trailer and compare with the big in your face one in the 53 flick when they come out of the party to meet the coppa and see the fire over the hills. ;D ;D

Yep checked on the web again and looks like he's doing what he stated he would. any pictures of his "FM" available anywhere??
