Thanks for letting us know. I'm taping it so might watch it tonight - see if it's worth being called the title HGWWOTW in the US.

Hey! i saw it/taped it last night and was quite impressed! Its actualy quite close to the book storywise and has some pretty creepy scenes. Its the only take on WOTW ive ever seen that captures the real "end of the world" feeling that i got when reading the book.

I've only watched the first 40 minutes of it so far. All I can say is - it's er.................just about watchable - but not very inspiring in the slightest. The Machines are reasonably done in some scenes pretty bad in others [ absolutely ridiculous that they aren't tripods in a film called HGWWOTW ] but there's no build up at all to it. It's like - wife flashes her wotsits about - kid "hey dad there's a meteorite up there!"Dad drives to the observatory - another meteorite crashes and hey presto the aliens appear. Anyway - I can't say I've really paid much attention to it so far [ I've found my mind wandering quite a bit ] but I've got to the bit where they go into the shop so I'll watch the rest in the next few days.

I just find the film lacks Ooomph! Okay there's no build up to the invasion- perhaps there wouldn't be in real life. But when the machine started attacking and killing, it didn't seem like there were enough people around to notice. And I really hate the design. But hey, at least we had a topless woman and bottomless man- no other WOTW film can say it has those!

I sure don't remember anyone being topless or bottomless. But I guess since I saw it on TV, they would have edited it out.

Yes, the joke about the bottomless man- those who have seen the film and remember the part where the main character finds his brother knows what I am on about- no nudity involved. However, his missus is definately topless in the shower scene at the begining.
