I know what you mean! I would be happy if they left the whole thing of making any more for a while!

Actually, Amber, this flick, despite being set in modern day America, is shaping up to be more faithful to the book (if somewhat lower budget) than Speilberg's movie. From the pics seen so far we have many of HG's story elements in place.. The curate, the ruined house and so on. Hopefully, the trailer (which is due online this weekend) will shed some more light on this.

Yeah, it'll be alright if it's not having the Americanisation coming out of it's ars*!
Seriously though, I think it'll be good, mabey even better... We can just all wait and see!

[glow=red,2,300]I am rather pleased to see that some of the important elements of the book will be in this film, the omission of the curate in the Speilberg film may yet prove to be unforgivable.
As I've said before, there is a lot of precedent for a modernday version, almost every retelling has been modernised. So while my prteferance is for a period piece, this could still be quite a good film.. maybe. [/glow]

It looks like Spielberg has replaced the Curate with Ogilvy...

Ogilvy, in SS's piece would appear to be an amalgamation of various book characters. Which is ok in it's, we don't want to offend any religion, creed or whatever kind of way. In C.T Howells take, we appear to at least have a seperate curate (whatever denomination he will be). This is where the modern takes on the story would appear to differ. How that pans out is yet to be seen.
