Why on earth are they changing the name for us UK people? The only positive outcome from that would be if it is stupendiously pants and should never see the light of day! So not leaving such a huge mark on the name of The War of the Worlds!

So not leaving such a huge mark on the name of The War of the Worlds! The only one is (dare i say it) to do with the complex copyright issues surrounding Paramount/Jeff wayne and UK ownership of the rights to the name. All you have to look at the trouble PP have got themselves into i suspect that the makers of WOTW: Invasion took one look and went for the least hassle route.

But on the poster it says "H.G.Wells' The War of the Worlds" so why oh why would they even put that if they have to change it to "Invasion".
I bet some people will think it's a film about Gulf War II!

Its all a bit cloudy still as they have not confirmed its UK release name, but as Rusti points out, copyright does play an enormous key factor in this and something they may very well have to change to keep some people happy - sadly making others unhappy (eg: fans)

I wish they would change the name from HG WELLS WAR OF THE WORLDS - to something else in the States. I'd accept the film if they did that and even watch it myself.
It has very little to do with the book and is just going to cause confusion and tarnish the reputation of the book.

I agree Fallingstar!
Since when was there bikes and "hot!" leather-clad "chicks" in Wells' book? It is a slander on the name.
Pendragon's film doesn't use the "H.G.Wells" part do they?

Rusti, there are copyright issues in the US with the Title WOTW since Paramount has the licence for that film title. So "Invasion" might well be the title in the US as well.

Yeah now you mention it, was there any sort of sexual content in the book, I mean a hint of it etc, but there would be too much to think of that when a 100ft monster has just loomed into view benieth the sheets, erm I mean on the horrizon!
