The 'special features' section looks interesting. The 'outtakes' must include a shot of all the CGI workers looking at the artist rendering of a 6 legged tripod - then burst out laughing.

Someone just noted out that the crazy person on Starship troppers is in this film. Looks on the dvd sleeve.

George Pal's didn't have any legs at all (yes I know there were supposed to be three magnetic suspensor gizmo whatchamacallits, but who the hell ever remembers those?).
Though that still doesn't detract from the cheap tackiness of this version.

I presume it's an ad for retailers: a media campaign means it's far more likely to sell than, say, a movie where the production company put NDAs on everyone involved a days before it's supposed to be released.

I would say that the 'Media Campaign' quote is to do with the 3 lots of sponsorers at the top of the ad - CFQ, FANGORIA and STARLOG H_C

It might be out under a different title since apparently they have another title for this flick ready to go if there are legal difficulties. Hey, I think the film will probably be the pits...it's obviously a quickie meant to cash in on the Speilberg version...but at least the people making it have some idea of how to market and distribute a film, which is a lot more then you can say are Mr. Hines.... I love the way the DVD Front Cover swipes the center graphic from "Independence Day". I kind of like the cheerful, open tackiness of it all..as opposed to the prententions we are getting from a certain other version.

I love the way the Martians are wrecking the High Rises in the city, but on the freeway below cars are driving by totally unconcerned..... From what I have seen, looks as if Los Angeles is the setting. Makes sense, since if you are a low budget filmaker in LA, why incur the expense of going out on location when you have a big city with lots of landmarks right there? This looks like it could be cheesy fun.
