Just like to note that the region 2 UK DVD could look a fair bit different, as there was that survey to choose the R2 DVD packaging. Region1 DVD is looked over by Dreamworks and the R2 DVD is looked over by Paramount and the UIP.

As expected! - notice the way the limited edition [ the one with not so wide distribution ] is the one without Cruise's face on the cover and the Steven Spielberg lettering is tiny compared to the TOM CRUISE lettering.
As also expected - you can hardly see Fannings face and none of the other stars of the film are on the front cover at all.
Surely it can't be that the "choose a cover" competition was a complete con. Surely not!

Surely it can't be that the "choose a cover" competition was a complete con. Surely not! The choose the cover thing was for region 2 UIP distributed War of the Worlds editions, which is not this one. The region 1 dvd is nothing to do with paramount it is all done under dreamworks home entertainment. Anthony

Right but they're still the same covers though aren't they? Apart from very small changes here and there.

Right but they're still the same covers though aren't they? Apart from very small changes here and there. Well some are different and some are just slightly modified versions. Heres the link to recall. www.paramountdvd.co.uk/emails/wotw/survey/Anthony

That's the ones. Pretty much the same as the above except for slight moving round of letters images etc. No doubt the ones with Mr 'I'm in love with myself' will be in the overwhelming majority!

I am definately getting a hold of the double disk edition, I feel so cheated by the theatrical edition...
hopefully both will be offered for some time, to make up for the loss of money... on my end when I went to see the friggin piece of garbage...

Yeh, I want my money back too! I think I'll get the one with Cruise's mug on the cover as I'm short of combustible material for a bonfire.

i was assured that the rip came from a retail disc. I expect they all say that. Remember kids, piracy is bad.

I was only making a point ,like a lot of people i was really hopeing that that extra footage would be edited into the dvd release and it really looks like it aint. And before anyone goes on about piracy ,i own over 600 original dvds 150 laserdiscs and over 1000 original tapes so i havent done bad and ofcourse i have war of the worlds preordered so dont panic.

I dont see the point on giving every member, who might, or might not endorse piracy a lecture. It just futile and rather pointless, and all it serves to do is distract from the discussion.
I understand that has a site, its not something that is endorsed, but as inderviguals, I dont see the need to jump on the back of every person who might be involved in it.
Personally, if what youve seen if a rip of the final DVD release, I am very dissapointed with this news, although, not heart broken, after all, its always possible that the Special Edition, or even an edition made purposely for the deleted scenes - like X-Men 1.5 - might have them edited back in.
Oh, and this is just a general observation of some on this site, not just directed at Nerfy, or anyone for that matter. Honestly, I couldnt insult anyone with Ricci as an AV. -Swoons-.

I bet the dvd will have extra footage, but the thing is though - it's still a lame film anyway.
