I was wondering if there is any new WOTW games in production? I haven't heard anything recently so I'm not real sure if there is. Can anyone help me?

No. Jeff Wayne was in talks about new games but nothing has come of it as yet. I did find it odd that there weren't any games based on the Spielberg movie, though (apart from the moibile one, that is).

Yeah I agree it is odd.
Aside from those two games, the Rage PC game and the Playstation game I would have thought that there would have been more.....(That's of course if I didn't miss any out then)
I hope that Jeff Wayne gets a deal of some sort or the other.

There are rumours circulating that there could be a game released based on the Spielberg movie, but as many of us know, Spielberg is not the best person when it comes down to merchandising. Again with the Jeff Wayne games, just talks and nothing coming of it - as of yet.

I can see the official SS WOTW game's promo... "zap! Zap! ZAP!" Silly plotlines "boom! Boom! BOOM!" aliens from the center of the Earth You are Tom Cruise on the run from killer heat rays, three legged aliens, icky sticky red weed, and men with waterguns. Your mission is to save the world from killer aliens who arrived by magical lightning bolts. Thrill as you take the controls of an air force jet! be amazed when Tom slides across the screen in his undies and a T shirt! and defend yourself and the rest of humanity using the few weapons you have at hand: A grenade a machine gun and Dakota Fannings ear splitting screams. the fate of ther universe lies in your hands!

oh yeh... there was supposed to be a level there you control Tom thowing PB&J sandwitches at the alien tripods. you see that is what really killed the aliens in the SS film, the aliens were allergic to peanuts... plus there is a bonus level where you have to finally knock off little Dakota using Peanut butter, grenades, and terrible renditions of "Little Deuce Coupe" by the beach boys

I've had ideas for a WOTW FPS (especially after seeing the Striders in HL2). If done well it would work superbly. And when I say FPS I don't mean guns blazing, high bodycount stuff. Call of Cthuhlu DCOTE proved that you can get by without have a gun for at least half the game and still maintain ripping tension and genuine scares. Imagine viewing the martian attack through your own eyes, scurrying around abandoned houses evading curious tentacles and the heat ray.

Personally I would love to see an updated version of the RTS PC game. With all bugs fixed plus a multiplayer and improved graphics to match todays PC’s, when I first played this I was blown away with the level of gameplay (probably because I’m a big fan of the Jeff Wayne version). It really brought me back to when I was younger listening to the album. Ok it had it’s problems like dodgy animation on the intro’s, poor unit movement mapping and the dreaded unit disappearance if you sent more than 3 ships to Newcastle. I Still get a tingle down my spine when I hear Nigel Hawthorne “Martians have invaded our territory”. Maybe they could release other maps like an invasion of Ireland or another country, to prolong the game.

I just went on Game informer and searched and all I got was this... www.gameinformer.com/games/info/info.htm?CS_pid=646413Apparently, there is a PC game coming in July from Tri-Synergy called 'War of the Worlds'. Doing a bit more searching (as I couldn't find out more from the developers site) I found this.. pc.gamezone.com/gamesell/p26610.htmThere doesn't seem to be much more info about this than that. It doesn't look like a tie-in to any adaptions, so what is it? Anyone know?

Thanks for all that Nerfherder. Had a look at it myself. Hm, well I don't really know what to make of it either. Your right it doesn't seem to tie-in with any adaptations. But I did see a link that took me to the mobile game. Could this PC game be another version of the mobile game? I personally doubt that myself though

I'm guessing "FPS" means "first person shooter". But what means: RTS HL2 DCOTE And does "mobile game" mean an electronic game you can carry around, or what? I'm not clueless, I'm just acronym-challenged.

Sorry perhaps I should have made that clearer (mobile game). What I meant by "mobile game" was a game for mobile phones. Still though it could mean a game you could carry round with you (If they had a WOTW one I'd have it )

Lensman, An RTS is a Real Time Strategy.. These type of games include Command and Conquer and the PC version of JWWoTW. HL2 is Half Life 2. DCOTE is Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of The Earth, which is a game based in Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos.

I'd like to see a fairly open plan WOTW game from a FPS perspective- several different outcomes depending on where you flee and who you meet- characters and situations from the book, but enough scope to do things differently and not play the game as the usual 'on rails' story. Plus an accurate map of London and surrounding areas for a bit of local familiarity.
But that's just me...

Sorry Lensman! I was just being lazy and using acronyms. EvilNerf is 100% accurate in his translation ;D
