Anyone played this? I rented it from Blockbuster and have been playing it for a couple of days. It's a sort of GTA-lite featuring an alien clone who has to create havoc in 1950's America. You can use ESP to control people to make distractions (I dare you not to laugh when you see someone doing a chicken dance and all the surrounding people watching and clapping), read their thoughts, extract people's brains to collect their DNA and vaporise them in a 'Mars Attacks' style. Dodge local bumpkins with shotguns, cops, the Army and Majestic MIBs as you carry out your mission to collect vital DNA and ultimately destroy Earth. Also fun is piloting your spaceship to destroy everything with your Death Ray. It's not a huge game but there are lots of side quests (usually involving destruction), things to do and it has a fun 50's 'B-Movie' style atmosphere with lots of modern humour. The difficulty level goes up smoothly as you progress and you can upgrade your alien and saucer using the DNA you collect. Good fun!

I've seen a review of it on some video-game tv-show. It looked awefull! Looks to me like it's an EA game (that correct?) the way the humans acted, reacted and spoke... totally overdone. I can only agree of the title.

The humans did remind me of 'The Sims' a bit. They look like a 50's version of them but there is a fair bit of modern humour to it. It spoofs 50's B-movies pretty well. It's not an EA game though.

Ah yes, that'w what reminded me of! The totaly unappealing Sims (sorry for yer fans). But the people in the Sims (and any EA game btw) lack any realism. But then again EA isn't about polished games, it's about the money. But what isn't nowadays?
*ends rant*

Its just a bit of fun Gnorn, it doesnt amount to being much more than that......but I dont think its trying to.
I do also happen to be a fan of the Sims 2, but I know what you're saying.........once you've played it for a little while, it does become rather predictable, but it does remain rather playable.....of not slightly addictive.

I've seen the game on various adverts, it looks really funny!

Iron man.. No, you don't do battle with ships or jets. You can mess with soldiers and their transports though and there are tanks. Also, there are anti aircraft missile launchers to contend with when you are in your spaceship.

I've played Destroy all Humans and while it lasts it is ripping good fun.
The plot is this, the Kriptonians can only reproduce themselves by cloning themselves having lost all genetalia centuries ago. The clones are becoming stale and unusable so the empire will collapse if something isn't done.
In what is vaugely described as a drunken night eons ago, kriptonian DNA was implanted within very early mankind and is therefore dormant in modern humans DNA. The job of the mission is to capture as much DNA as possible and to conquer the Earth in B Movie 1950's alien style!
The plot deepens later on, such as attempting to rescue your brother/clone and stopping an organisation that is very much like the F.B.I (in fact i often wonder why it wasn't just called the F.B.I)
The game is a bit like GTA. There are main missions that need to be done to progress with the story. There are also side missions and things to collect like the space probes (think hidden packages on GTA).
But its also fun to just let rip and do what the title says and 'destory all humans!'
The game has several areas that are rip offs of favourite alien based locations.
Turnipseed Farm (complete with yokel farmers reaching for the Shotgun) Rockwell (basically Roswell) Area 42 (basically area 51) Capitol City (washington DC)
[there are 2 more areas that I can't remember the names of but one is a town and one is a harbour with a secret military base]
If you are seen a meter begins to fill up similar to the wanted meter on GTA. It goes from locals being aware of you, to the police, to the army to finally the F.B.I like guys. You can get it down again by hiding.
To counter this you can make yourself look human using psychic abilities. Not that you have to as your technology can counter almost anything, at least on all but the later stages.
As Krypto you have quite an arsenal. A Disintergrator Ray which is a lot like the weapon the Martians use on the 1953 wotw movie. An electro zapper, an anal probe device (causes humans buts to explode), and a neutron bomb thingy. you also have psychic abilities which range from telekinesis, to controlling minds, mind reading (what some people think on the game makes me lol) and being able to take on human form.
Theres also the UFO that has a big death ray ;D
This game is hilarious. The gameplay is solid and the graphics are pretty average. The only problem is that it won't take you long to finish the main story, I did so in two days. Theres still sidequests and things but they aren't no-where near as the main missions so there's little to come back to.
Krypto is very much like the 'typical' alien. Big eyes, small, grey etc. But he's funny. He loves his job and he's so mean its almost cute, almost. It rips of many 1950's B Movies but still pays homage to them. In fact if you finish about 60% of the game you unlock the entire teenagers from space movie where an alien falls in love with a human and decides to help us fend off an attack by 50ft lobsters (yes its that bad). when i ordered the game i also got plan 9 form outer space where aliens are raising an army of zombies (as in 3) to conquer the Earth.
The point is, is that it is a good game while it lasts. I would definately reccommend renting it at least. It's by no means the best game ever but in my oppinion it is very enjoyable.

there is even a WOTW reference. when exsposing yourself to a male civilian, be it appearing infront of them or un-holobobing, sometimes they say, "Orson Welles was right!!!" before being zaporized in short order.
note: the race is called furons, not Kriptonians, and the charecter is spelled crypto short for cryptospariduim-137, which i don't know of i spelt right, and his superior is orthopox, shortend to just pox sometimes. all the furons names are deadly diseases.

Ye thats a quality line. They often just say "Little green men from Mars!" throughout the whole game. Crypto of course being Gray will often reply "I'm Gray!" or "I'm not green!" throughout the game until he comes to the conclusion that we are colourblind lol!

yeah, well the WOTW martians were by no means small ("a rounded bulk as big as a bear") although one of several concepts of crpyto had tentacles.

[glow=red,2,300]For me this is the best ps2 game since war of the monsters! There are heaps of little subtle secrets to find, like conversations to overhear, minds to read that only occur at rare locations, apparently you can even get butterflys to land on your head (From an Orson Scott Card short story I think). It's hillarious, funniest game on the ps2 easilly. Try leaving the game on the mothership screen for a while, or leave crypto somewhere safe for a few minutes Just finding all the probes had me playing for days more. [/glow]
