Looks like they shortened the film again. Now it's only 2 hours 5 minutes long. And according to the product description:

I may sound like a complete idiot, but I'm still curious about how much the special effects are actually improved... One of the customers is talking about a new "melting effect" on the Heat Ray victims

A Christmas release?
Are you sure it wasn't just being distributed in Christmas crackers as the joke, along with a paper hat?
Far be it for me to remark that the hat would be better value...

Well I wouldn't get too excited, the Amazon site states 4-6 weeks estimated for delivery.
Basically that means they have the DVD in stock, but the packing staff are too scared to go and dig them out from that pallet in the corner of the basement ;D

I note the reviewer who praised the new FX gave the film the highest rating-- 5 stars. For those familiar with the "review wars" at Amazon.com when this movie first came out--Need I point out the obvious? Call me cynical, but I suspect another Pendragon "shell". ;D Oh, and just when you think Timbo has exhibited all the chutzpah possible-- now the film is re-titled "The Classic War of the Worlds". Altho, on second thought, I'm glad he changed it 'cuz now there will be less confusion with the other films.

I guess we'll just have to wait until someone actually watches it or if a real reviewer reviews to see if Hines actually changed the film. Of course the fake reviews make the film seem good. However, I would not trust the real reviewers either since it seems that none of them actually seen this version. They are just reviewing it based on the first release.

Anyone who exposed themselves to the original travesty would be insane to give that boggle-eyed coffee-guzzling fruitcake another chance. I'd bet my life that the 'new improved' version is still a big steaming crock of sh*te...
