I forgot to mention it but the other night I was bored so I visited Pendragons site. When I clicked on WOTW official movie site a message flashed up very, very quickly [ so quick I could only read a few words ] but it said something to the effect of - HGWTWOTW the best movie version there is blah, blah, blah!. I've gone back today but it doesn't seem to appear now.

Did you take the same pills this time? Actually, I'm being dead serious. I know it sounds like I'm having a laugh, making it up [ or been taking strange pills ] but this really happened when I visited Pendragons site the other night. It was black writing on a white background and it flashed up for I'd say less than a second. I tried to write down what it said but it was too quick. So quick I could only make out the words I mentioned.

Hmm, very inte...****BEECUS IS GREAT****...pose it got there? ;D Actually, I wouldn't put it past them given the erm.... alleged Amazon.com fixing. And not forgetting........."FALLINGSTAR LOVES HINES FILM AND HE THINKS IT'S BETTER THAN THE BOOK!"....... their inflated claims for just about everything.

There is this message that says: "THE FIRST AUTHENTIC MOVIE ADAPTATION OF THE 1898 H. G. WELLS CLASSIC NOVEL" when you click on the image link... I know the one you mean there but it wasn't that. This message just flashed up for a milli-second.

Perhaps it was the alternate text ***WHEN RUSTI READS THIS HE WILL LOVE SPIELBERG'S WOTW*** which appears before the picture of the handling machine ***AND HE WILL THINK TOM CRUISE IS THE GREATEST ACTOR WHO EVER LIVED*** loads into your browser over the top of it. It reads as follows: ~~~~~~~~~~ A Martian Spider-like Handling Machine as it appears in the major motion picture, H.G. WELLS' THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, a Pendragon Pictures production, produced by Susan Goforth, directed by Timothy Hines.HTTP://WWW.THEWAROFTHEWORLDSMOVIE.NET . Pendragon Pictures proudly presents WAR OF THE WORLDS, the first and only authentic movie adaptation of the classic novel, now available on DVD at www.thewaroftheworldsmovie.net ." ~~~~~~~~~~ Well actually only the first sentence is the alternate text (which you can read by right-clicking on the picture and selecting "Properties", then highlighting "Alternate text" and moving your cursor to the right). The second sentence seems to be a repeat of some of the copy which appears lower down on the page. But I can't be sure, as now *I* can't see this text either-- after it's loaded into your computer's temporary website storage on your hard drive, it will just display the picture. I suppose you could go in and manually delete that from your hard drive then view the page again, but that's more effort than I'm willing to goforth... er, *put* forth. ;D

It's not that text either Lensman. Again I could hardly read any of it but this seemed to be a page that flashed up verrrrrrryyyyy quickly and basically said how great Hines film is. I've seen similar advertising somewhere else but I can't remember where and I wouldn't be surprised if the big companies use similar techniques to sell stuff.
