Dunno if anyone has mentioned this before, but turning the colour off on your tv and watching the film in black and white! Makes it a lot better!
Notice, though, that I said "better." Not "good"...

I can see what you mean. It looks more like an old but true version of the novel. If you could just make the screen a bit unclear and gritty it would be like a film made in the 1930. It could make the Special-Effects a bit better too.

You could try it with the brightness, contrast and volume turned down as well.

Just noticed, the title of this thread is also the name of a Dubstar album. Cool!

I've actually tried watching the film with the picture and sound turned off, listening to the Jeff Wayne CD and hurling a camera tripod across the room while screaming UUULLLLAAAAA! at the top of my voice. Much better and scares the hell out of the neighbours.
But I don't have much furniture left....

Better still, get some lego men to be the people and throw them violently around the room while screaming... lego people and broken furniture everywhere. Oh, the humanity! ;D

To be honest, there's a lot could be done to improve this film if only copyright could be overcome. Blackmoon's version of the scene of the cylinder impacting on the house with the JW soundtrack in the background is a case in point...gave me goosebumps KR
