Despite going to America TWICE this year ...could I buggary find ANY copies of this DVD despite trying every store I could find ....I managed to find Asylums version ....
Mind you saying that ...in one sense i am glad really ..cos what I have been reading the film started badly ...dropped off halfway through ..and the less said about it the better ;D ;D and from what I gather the directrs cut hasn't .....erm cut it

The DVD is only available on the net in the UK. In the states it's supposedly available in WalMart stores.
So there you go.

I got my copy from WalMart as well. Haven't seen it on display anywhere else, including the stores with large DVD inventories. I suspect - but have no proof - that WalMart was the only large chain to purchase the film for retail sale.
I would be very surprised if it was still for sale today even at WalMart. Sales couldn't have been large enough for an extended buy from the retailers.

Wal-Mart isn't the only retailer. I believe Target carries the movie as well.

Probably not because of Jeff Wayne's rights over the titles named War of the Worlds.
I had a good look yesterday when I was in ASDA in Hulme, couldn't see it.

I don't know why people get their knickers in a twist so much about not being able to get hold of this film - it's the interweb for God's sake, you can order damn near anything you like from anywhere you need, without stirring your arse from your chair! Sheesh...

I waqs told that the Wal-mart (and apparently the Target, too) near my university in CA have some. I might pick a copy up in the January sales if it is in he bargain bin ;D

Im off to the big apple next week, I will keep my eyes open for a wal-mart, but doubt i will find one in manhattan.
If I manage to get a copy of the directors cut, I shall post a review detailing the fx & thunderchild sequences, etc...

I looked in a couple of Wal-Marts in Orlando and couldn't find it.
ASDA definately won't have it.
I've been having a think about it and even with the bad press it's had it might be worth getting just to have it in the collection.
