Hi all, I know the opinions of most of the members about the movie itself. But what do you guys think about the music score? I think that it is really good! Especially the music accompanying the "walking scenes" really keeps on playing in my head. What are your opinions? Johan

i loved the music and if a soundtrack is made i would buy it. My favorite is the intro, the reuinion, and the artilleryman. (hell, all is good) Jamie Hall will have a good future.

I thought the music was very good indeed! One strange thing though, the music on the first trailer was fantastic, but I don't notice it in the main film at all.

The music as music (and not as accompaniment) is quite good, certainly one of the best things about the film. Unfortunately there seems to be a somewhat limited amount of it; some portions were re-used for different scenes, and in some places what is used isn't appropriate. I'm guessing that either the music was made up before the film was finished-- contrary to normal practice-- or else (more likely) Pendragon couldn't afford to pay for the entire movie to be scored properly.

There is an interview with the composer up over at Eve Of The War in which he gives answers to some of your comments Lensman: www.eveofthewar.com/articles/9350/InterviewFrom the interview, it sounds as if the music WAS written after the film was mostly done, but that some of the scenes were reedited at the last minute and didn't get music written for them. That is probably the re-use that you heard.

My best mate came around last night to finally watch "the film". We have both been huge fans since we were kids. Needless to say, he hated it, and in the end i showed him the "best bits" (ho, ho).
He made a comment that he thought the music made the film seem even more naff, as it is at times xtrmly cheesy sounding and it seems to be trying toooo hard to be dramatic.
I have to say that i agree. Sorry in advance if this pees anyone off.

Warmonger: Thanks very much for that link! I hadn't read that interview before. That certainly does explain why much or most of the music fits the scenes but some clearly does not. Sean: Music is a matter of taste, and you're certainly entitled to not have any. Seriously, I doubt there's any piece or style of music that everyone likes.

i thought that the soundtrack sounded quite 'flat', ie: not a lot in the way of dynamics. this i imagine would be mainly down to the (budget) production.
and if i'm honest, i found the soundtrack pretty boring, too. it just sounds like it was recorded and produced on a C64.

The music on the last trailer just before the film was released was quite good and I said so at the time but what it's like in the rest of the film I don't know.

Funny I was sat with two music producers last night and they loved it. Blimey, I'm genuinely surprised by that. I guess with music production it's an extremely personal thing when it comes to taste. Where do I get the idea that my opinion is a valid one? I've had music released commercially (vinyl & CD, MTV Mash, XFM radio) is of a high standard (and my budget is practically zero). That's not really a boast, more of a bit of disposable info for those who may be interested. Um, yes. Do you know that I spent nearly 20 minutes re-writing this post? I was getting paranoid about it. How odd.

Know need to get paranoid about it. Yes musical taste is a very personal thing and the two guys mentioned have very diverse tastes,as do I. We just felt that the music just set the scene right and helped to drop one into the setting of the film. I would love to hear some of your music if that is possible.

it just sounds like it was recorded and produced on a C64. Dude, I had a C64 and I know what it sounds like. Your statement is just plain wrong. It was clear that some if not all of the soundtrack was produced by computer, but I thought the quality was just as good as the computer generated music you hear on some major TV shows. Of course it wasn't the London Symphony Orchestra--how would a low budget production afford them? Whether you liked the music or not is your own personal choice in terms of musical style. But don't bag on the quality of it just because you didn't happen to like it.

To recap, I thought the quality was rather poor and I didn't really like the content either. It's. My. Own. Opinion. Sheesh This is exactly the reason I thought about not putting my personal opinion down.

Thanks, no problem, there's a link on my profile... The music on the site is heavily squashed and compressed to don't expect full fat dolby big big big bad boy quality. You may not like the music, either
