Are the 'few scratches on the CD' his teeth marks perchance?

I sent him a note via e-bay telling him it was not a Paramount production, but by small independent studio Pendragon Productions.

Bloody hell, that does look a bit dodge...! I mean, come on, he's got the DVD so he must have at least watched a few minutes and realised that the Freddie Mercury lookalike with the dodgy cardboard moustache playing the main character wasn't Tom Cruise (he's too tall for a start)?
If he's not careful, if someone buys it in all innocence and then sees what they've bought, at the very least he'll get bad feedback.

He's at it again: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6413905400Considering Lensman contacted him very early yesterday to put him straight, I think the time for giving him the benefit of the doubt has gone (unless he's not been checking his email/eBay messages). If he's not careful, he'll get reported to eBay.

Well, I hate to have to say this. But any purchase off the web should be, to a degree, researched, especially off E-Bay. I think E-Bay is fantastic, and I have a wealth of WoTW items now thanks to E-Bay. But there are plenty of people waiting to rip you off from every angle.
There was a book on E-Bay, War of the Worlds first edition, was up to about £500 but its been removed now. I think the seller mirrored his original item just for advertising, so he had two of the same book for people to bid on.

I've just emailed that seller to tell him to stop conning people or I will report him. He's selling loads of them and giving the impression that they are the Paramount version.

Which is silly, surely...... because if it were just advertised for what it was I might buy it if the price was right...... No way would I buy something that was already fraudulently misrepresented. Well if he's selling multiple copies then he *should* be reported to e-bay! Sure "caveat emptor" and all that, but e-bay does try to keep false advertising and fraudulent sales from taking place. But they can't police every sale themselves, they depend on us customers to report infractions.
(Later): Well I went thru the automated reporting process but all I could do was select categories; I selected "misrepresentation of brand name". I didn't see any way to actually send e-bay a note about exactly what the misrepresentation was.

You could try sending a report to eBay United Kingdom Customer Support at - spoof@ebay.co.uk I have emailed this and received personal replies so it is not just automated responses. Zoe

He knows exactly what he's doing. He is relying on the 'one born every minute'. There is no way you can confuse the two unless you're completely dumb. Of course maybe he is, but I doubt it.

Of course he knows whats he's doing. He's been told, he's taken no notice, clearly 'thick' skinned and unashamed of what he is doing, and out to make a few pounds for his troubles. Infact, its clever 'if' he actually sells it as he has got what he wanted, but after all that, who ever pays for it, will THEY get what they wanted.
Swings and round-abouts, you take your chances.

Surely E-Bay could boot him for selling Pirated DVDs anyway, because if they were the Paramount one, then they'd be illegal copies anyway?
(This is pre-supposing he is marketing them as the Spielberg paramount one and not the Pal paramount one...)
