Hi all, I run a scifi blog thar, among other things, reviews scifi movies. I just picked up a copy of Pendragon's movie at Rite Aid. That movie was, to put it lightly, not good. You can catch my full review at: www.xenoclone.com/movie_details.cfm?id=16I've seen moderators concerned about overly negative posts. I've tried to respect that.... Hence the link. ;D

We don't care about 'overly negative' posts, Xenoclone. We just don't like it when people start on each other over it. But enough has been said about that of late. I thought your review was pretty fair, though brief. Welcome to the board.

Suggestion: How about this topic (What is the worst Scifi movie you've ever seen.) Example: "Killer Clowns from Outer Space" I wanted to kick myself for buying that, even if it was only $5.00.

The thing is, films like Killer Clowns aren't meant to be taken seriously and I don't mind some sillyness like that. It's when people make travesties of great books that's the real problem.

I have to agree with FallingStar. Killer Klowns was supposed to be stupid, campy fun. (I mean, it's called Killer Klowns.) WotW was supposed to be a genuine, quality translation of the book. Hines called it his Lord of the Rings. So to find the show have things like CG horses, bad (and often unncecessary) compositing, sound effects that I have on a $10 sound FX CD, etc.... you can see why the film could very well be the Robot Monster of our time.

Heretic! That's a classic of the stupid movies of the 80s: there are far worse movies out there that were intended to be taken seriously.

How would you connesseurs of the crap place Highlander 2 in your list of infamy? Just wondering because it remains the worst film I've ever seen.

[glow=purple,2,300]You may just want to revise your opinion on that if you're ever subjected to Highlander IV: Endgame. Worse... much worse![/glow]

I refuse to believe that 'Highlander 2' ever existed, because the alternative is far too horrifying to contemplate: my memories of seeing it must be just a hallucination.

There are at least a few brief scenes in Pendragon's WotW which I like, so I cannot say that it's the worst movie I ever saw. I see someone's already mentioned "Robot Monster", which is not only astoundingly inept, it's also stupefyingly boring. Another all-time worst is "Teenagers from Outer Space". The FX in that are much, much worse than Pendragon's. I laughed so hard at the "monster" in that movie-- which appears to be the shadow of a lobster trying to climb out of an aquarium-- that at times during the movie I could hardly breathe.

You guys have obviously never seen Plan 9 from outer space, even if it is the most popular atomic age cult film of the 20th Century, it's the worst film in movie history!

If you ever want to punish someone (and you can get your hands on it), make them sit through the Aussie independant movie "Bloodlust". EVERYONE I know who has seen it uses it as the measuring stick for the absolute worst movie ever made! If it is better than Bloodlust then it is not the absolute bottom of the barrel.

When talking about Highlander you should NEVER mention any of the sequels or the DIABOLICAL TV series. They're abominations whereas Highlander is a true classic. I thought Battlefield Earth was actually okish...not good, but not a contender for worst ever. I thought Escape from LA was pretty crap considering Escape from New York was another cult classic. Judge Dredd was another poor attempt (I used to love the comic too).

"Plan 9" has the reputation for being the worst movie ever, but it's not really-- it just has the greatest number of scenes with unintentional humor in them. Really, "Robot Monster" is worse because it's astoundingly boring-- NOTHING HAPPENS for most of the film. Unless you count the guy in the gorilla suit climbing around in dry rocky canyons as "something happening".
And yeah, Hines' WotW *is* worse than "Battlefield Earth". Sure BE has awful acting and awful dialogue and awful directing (and the story is from one of the worst books ever written), but most of the FX are at least competently done, and the film is edited in a fashion that one can usually follow the story. (I don't think Hines ever heard of the concept of "matching shots".) And bad as the acting is in BE, at least those actors *do* have an understanding of how film acting should be done.
