Re pendragon's new release date: Fool Me Once, Shame On You, Fool Me Twice, Shame On Me. Hines and his release date is remings me of the Peanuts routine involving Charlie Brown, Lucy, and the football..... I really hope some of the people who seem to have come to grips with reality about this film don's suffer a relapse in Never Never Land because of a New Release Date....

Not a total surprise there, at least it shows there is still something going on behind the website.

PP website says "late April 2005" as a release date !!! Is this old news or has it just been updated ? Must be very recent. I've a nasty feeling this is going to turn into one of those end-of-the-world cult things, you know, where the Leader declares the world will end on March 30, said date comes and goes with nary a whimper, the Leader announces that actually he was in error and it's going to happen for sure in three weeks, his followers gather again on a hill, it comes and goes, ad infinitum, ad nauseam... And all the while the Followers give their Leader the benefit of the doubt, condemning dissenters as heretics. This may get very tedious...

Well - they must know they're cutting it short! All the press release dates and everything else! 30th March - why so exact on a date when it is not?
Will it be in April or will it be in June - in time to clash with Paramount's version?

Hmmmmmm, April starts next week, and even this late (yes it is late) they still can't give a date?. Thats not right.

That's right H_C. Either the film has not been completed or distribution rights are still being negotiated - i.e. cinema screenings or DVD releases. There are still no updates with regards to the production files, Special Effects progress etc so what is happening?
Their web-site seems to have developed a slight problem with communication with the outside world!

I have visited their web-site again and can see no re-mastering of a trailer! Also, I cannot see the April release date, Hals?
Where is this, please - or did you receive an email from PP?

It's too late for any widepread April release. You have to book theaters five of six weeks in advance for any kind of real release. And with the big films starting to roll out in Late April, the competion for theater screens gets stiff. The only thing in the press release I beleive, to be frank, is the DVD release date in June. Just in time for it the Pendragon film to get pushed off the shelves by the George Pal Version DVD SPecial Edition. It's Ed Wood all over again.

Come on guys didnt we expect this? As we got nearer the announced date it was a forgon conclusion that something would come from Hines, notice he never mentions the lack of promissed trailers in Feb and early March. Its a tactic to buy more time, to keep the hard core casting down the heretics who doubt the glorious leader until he can get the DVD deal set in stone.
You know the ultra bad and highly contraversial 'bum fights' 1 2 & 3 (I am not a fan of this but its a good example) all had better distribution (its sold in HMV and Vergin) and better public relations (there web site is updated all the time) than Pendragon and they arnt film makers, they are just students paying tramps to run into walls and they filmed it. Now thats sad.

I really think the DVD date is set in stone. That is the one part of the Hines Press Release I believe. The "Theatrical release" will probably be Hines renting a couple of theaters so he can claim it had a Threatircal release...the same tactic he used with his timeless masterpiece "Bug Wars".

'Bug Wars" only made it to one screening at a Seattle film festival. Its often said it made it to Cannes but it didnt, just a little Seattle festival, someone with cash and a desire to see an authentic WOTW happened to be there.

Hines is no longer talking about any trailers in theatres or on TV, so I think it's clear Pendragon is no longer trying for a "wide" release. I'd say there is a very good chance it will be shown at the SF Museum in Seattle, but I think it's rather iffy that it will be shown anywhere else. Possibly a very few art houses in the U.S. And I think having a simultaneous opening overseas for a "worldwide" release is even more iffy at this point.
I feel confident that the DVD will indeed be released as promised in this latest press release, because not doing so would completely fail to capitalize on the Paramount advertising.
As others have said, it would be better at this late date for Pendragon to have a showing on the Sci-Fi Channel than to have it shown in just a few "art house" cinemas-- that would be a much better promo for the DVD-- but there's no indication Hines is trying for that. Too bad.
