Yet again War of the Worlds Online can bring you some test footage from the upcoming Jeff Wayne The War of the Worlds Movie. We have been provided with another teaser from the Jeff Wayne camp, taken from the R&D material being cranked out at a rate of knots for Jeff Wayne's CGI feature film of his classic Musical Work. This is a turntable of the brilliant Handling Machine which collects humans, drains them of their blood and stores them in its basket. The machine design looks formidable looking much 'harder' than previous versions. You can see this amazing footage by clicking here. Coming soon will be the Official Jeff Wayne website from which fans will be able to purchase amazing merchandise in all shapes and sizes. www.waroftheworldsonline.com/movies/clip3.htm

Now, that beast looks like he can handle himself. Nice touch with the extra appendages as well.

I really do like the new look to this machine. Its new styled legs and feet, the new 4 fingered claws (instead of the old 2 fingered), the extra 'gripping' tenticles with claws, the all new basket, new Heat Ray gun, new cuts into body - very nice.

Thanks H_C for asking JW for that. It certainlt looks the part and very scary too. I'm really looking forward to seeing JW's production.
Compared to the orginal concept is the basket a lot smaller on the computer generated HM? Therefore do you think they have increased the size of the handling machines to make it appear alot larger to the food, ie, us humans?

I would say it's the same size, just a differant shape thats all.
The 'basket' too me is a little open, unless 1/ the chamber below is set deep and 2/ the basket's bar's are electrified?.

I'm thinking of this: This pic is a little small, but even so I can clearly make out the basket. With the cgi version I hadn't noticed the basket until the clip started playing the HM started rotating. I just thought that perhaps one of the design changes had been the scale of the vehicle, ie, its alot bigger now and therefore they didn't need a large conical shaped basket because of the preys relative size. Just a thought.

[glow=red,2,300]I couldn't get this one to work No save as link came up and all I got was a static image. That said it looks very good. Regarding the basket, I opted for the electrified top for the cage in one of my short stories so that gets my vote. [/glow]

LOOKIN GOOD! It comes across as a successful updating of the original design which keeps most of the look of the original.
Hope all the machines look really detailed close up too.

Looking really, really, good. Wayne is a professional who knows what he is doing and has the means to hire good people to do his graphics, unlike certain other people making period versions of WOTW.... ;D

I just thought that perhaps one of the design changes had been the scale of the vehicle, ie, its alot bigger now and therefore they didn't need a large conical shaped basket because of the preys relative size. Just a thought. The 'text' I was given that came with the CGI was saying the Martians use this to capture and 'drain' the blood from its victims. So by that I can guess that as the basket seen in the turn table is not the same as the album or the models (bought at one time) - incidently the model kit of the HM 'never' came with the basket, you had to make that yourself - I would guess that the body of the machine is hollowed out beneath the basket allowing the Martians to go about there 'gastly' buisness. This from Jeff: 'The Handling Machines purpose in life is to gather humans with their claws/pincers. Once a human is captured the arms work in such a way as to 'drop' the humans into the baskets, and then, in a conveyor-belt fashion pass the humans into the Handling Machine for the waiting Martians to extract (drain) the blood from the living Humans.'Some more can be read here: robk.proboards13.com/index.cgi?board=jeffmovie&action=display&thread=1111749204H_C

Nice work - Jeff certainly knows how to do good PR...
Horse - let Jeff know he's got a big thumbs up for his open 'sharing' format.
I love it. It's creepy - with a suitably dark and sinister practical intent.
