What would you do if you do if you saw Wells in your high street, alive as your own hands... What would you do to the person who is the reason why ere are all here on this site...

Well, If I saw him walking up the high street (2005) I would say the following - 'Wouldn't live round here mate, right dump', 'ruddy hell, your looking good for ya age Wellsey'. Or if it was back then say 1898 (via a time machine) I would buy 100 copies of the 1st edition TWOTW, get HG to sign the lot, return back to 2005, put the whole lot into auctions world wide, let them sell, split the money 50/50 keeping half for me and donating the other 50% to charity.

Oh, but if he was walking the high street, couldn't he claim some money from this site?? - I just don't like it when people won't read Wellsie's books because they're "old" so "they won't be any good" Most, if not all his books are works of genius and are probably the first, or first really famous, books and novels on the subjuest in speaking.... Martians, huge war machines, time machines, invisible men, men traveling to the moon about 100 years ago.. the list goes on...

I'd love it if he'd say loads of dirty old jokes! ;D Wowza! - etc... etc... etc... --- --- --- Well he was quite a womaniser I believe... But erm, like I need any tips, that's right! The great ME needs no tips, you can bet on it...

I'd ask him to sign all my Wells/ WotW stuff. And ask him if he could pop back in his Time Machine and bring back lots of pristine first editions (signed, again) of all his works. A little nest egg for me old age

You could introduce him to Tmothy Hines and Steven Spielberg, then Wells would convince them they should work togther some more and both the movies are going to be made true bu Paramount Pictures. Both with the greatest special effects ever seen!

Good point Tripod!
I think I would take him to the nearest pub and buy him a cold frosty!
And while enjoying that, we would talk about current afairs.

[Rules are for the obeyance of Fools and the guidance of wise Men...] I think I would congratulate him on his magnus opus..."The Shape of Things to Come" and then bring him up to date about our invasion of Mars. I am sure he would be interested.

[glow=red,2,300]Hey Bayne, I didn't know you were into WH40K. I'm a painter, not a player. Working my way up to a Golden Demon entry (I may just have one for 2006 I reckon). I tell you, if I bumped into Mr Wells, there would be awe, a respectful and firm handshake, followed by a quiet pub meal in a really old pub on me! (to make him feel more at home... sort of) Then some chinwag, followed by a world tour of the most significant social and technological scientific advances mankind has made in the last century. What a great excuse for a world trip![/glow]

I'd make sure I was better equipped in the manhood department than he was. Then cheer/jibber at him and challenge him to a fight.

Id ask him what the hell he was doing in our century for one, and possibly be moderatly shocked he was.
Then Id ask him why he was in The Bordom Capital of the North.
Then Id ask him to draw me his interprutation of a Tripod... just always wondered what it would be. And of course Id discuss the way his novels have been treated over the years, probally with great glee from him and skip the TV Series of WOTW and the Time Machine movie... because, geez, I like the guy, Id be mean to subject him to them.
Im a bitter, bitter person.
And thats about it. Although I would show him how alot of his great works came to pass in reality.

I'd ask him to do an impression of a martian and then ask him for some change for the bus.
